My boat had no stereo in it when I got it. Our dealer trys to hook you up with a local shop to them, makes them extra dough. It only had to crappy polk speakers in the bow. I took it to my shop and had it done completely to my likes. We are cranking the stereo from the moment we are putting up the boards at the dock til we are done wiping down and putting all away in the pull off area of our ramp.

The Double up is a great choice and either the xs10 or 12, depending on whether or not you mind loosing space to a sub box.
What about your cabin set up?
The ws420 EQ is a nice way to top off a great system
I will leave off factory audio options and have everything dealer side. I forgot to list the XS650s for the cabin and the WS420EQ in the post above.
I'm with balair in admiration of the Alpine deck so far (linked in first post and imaged in balair's post).
Waffling on the transom remote. If I go with a head unit with a remote control, I will skip the transom control (which might only work on the Clarion anyways).
And I will have to decide between the XS10 and 12--not sure if I want the hassle of the box.

So far, other then the EQ and the MB8's as part of the double up, you are not listing anything that you cant get factory installed.............Just a thought here, have you thought about the loss of factory warranty by having the stereo done by dealer. Will he give you the same 3yr coverage?Mikes Liquid Audio: Knowledge Experience Customer Service you can trust-KICKER WetSounds ACME props FlyHigh Custom Ballast Clarion LiquidLumens LEDs Roswell Wave Deflector And More

I have an Alpine CDA-9886 head unit coming in the mail now, hoping it will come in tomorrow. I will let you know what I think. This unit will allow me to add a new amp, speakers and sub because it has 6 outputs for the sub and speakers.

Of course there is the Clarion CMD5 with the CCA-iPod cable. But I have read iPod control is hideous. I guess I could add a HK Drive+Play but I would rather have an integrated solution.
Anyone have experience with the marine Alpine iDA-X100M? Looks to be great iPod and Sirius integration (with full color display). Plus you can get a marine (floating) remote control for it.
Other components of the system will probably be WS Double Up (MB-8 and Pro60), SYN amps, and a WS XS sub.
Any other suggestions?Dale

As far as iPod control, the best iPod control units I have found are the USB control ones, not cnet or cd changer control types. I got the best I could find for my truck, and it even has a special connector that works on reg ipods, or video ipods, and will play the ipod video on the monitor. It also has bluetooth, so when I get in my truck, it auto connects to my iphone and so if I make or receive a call it comes through my speakers and mic is installed just above the door jam, it is crystal clear from both ends. I have the one din, that folds out, and they make a 2 din model also.

I wish I had a picture of what the ipod interface looks like, it is very cool. What makes this great for me, is that I don't have to have a separate ipod for my truck, I just have all my songs on my iphone. I put in the cradle and connect, and the headunit auto connects to bluetooth for calls.http://wake9.com/

I agree a USB interface is the way to go (plus kinda cool you can use a plain USB thumb drive directly). I am guessing you were referencing the above head unit for features rather than suggesting use on the boat? It is also a pretty penny at $1k.
The iDA-X100M has a USB - iPod connector. But that unit does not have Bluetooth -- I am not sure I want cell integration over the tower speakers
Thanks for all the Clarion, Alpine, and Sony feedback!
