Amp cuts out...

My Cadence FX5100+ (I think that's what it is) has cut out on me twice. There is a small red led that lights up on the front. It definitely is not from it over heating!! It was 60* outside and it only was on for 2 minutes be4 it cut out. It also did this to me once in the garage during install. I can cut hte power to the HU and the amp resets no problem. No fuses pop or anything. I'm stumped.
Could a speaker being wired backward do that? I don't think I wired them wrong but I suppose it's possible. I have played the stereo for about an hour in my garage on several occasions and it has worked just fine. Seems like a speaker would do it consistantly if that was the problem!?

I'm stumped.

It sounds like protect mode. Could be overheating, short in a speaker wire, gain settings, low battery, ect.

OK, what is it powering and how is wired (speaker chnls)

It is not a speaker wired backwards... That just makes the speaker play out of phase. The amplifier puts out an AC signal, and the speaker motor circuit is just a coil of wire. It doesn't care which way it is wired, as long as it is not shorted.

I have it going to 4 WS650s and an WS12 sub. I ran all new 12g speaker wire through the entire system--can't imagine there could be a short, but you never know I suppose.
If it were the battery, which is brand new and fully charged by me, it would not come back on when it was reset, or at least by my logical deduction that makes sense.
Definitely could not be over heating. I tonly played for 30 seconds max. I touched it to see if maybe it got hot magically and it was cold to the touch everywhere I could get my sausage fingers.
My input gains are set at slightly over 1/2 way.

I had the same thing happen to me last year when the voltage going to my amp (different amp) began to fluctuate. It was the first clue that my alternator was going out. A bad battery can do the same thing.

If you have a volt meter, check the voltage AT THE amp with some music playing, and see what it reads. Many amps have an under-volt protection. I know you say you charged teh batt, but you might have some other electrical problem like a loose power connection...

I have a voltmeter, I can try that. I do have the volt readout on my dist block but I assume that reading comes from the battery (it's at 12.3-4) and not what is going to the amps.

I have been out a couple times and had no issues. Scratching my head... no answers. Maybe I had an energy spike or something goofy. Dunno.

I have not installed the other amp yet. I am in the process of doing the LED rings for the pro 80's I got off EBay (Cheap! ) Once I get those done I'll toss it in. I plan to bridge the 4 channels to 2 and run 300watts to each Pro80...or maybe it would be a better idea to bridge the channels from the 5100 amp to send 200 watts to each of those and 150 watts to each WS650????? Probably better the second way around so I don't damage the pro80's.

I have to figure out some way to control the volume on the tower speakers independently without the WS420. It just isn't in the budget any time soon. Not sure how I'm gonna cross that bridge yet.

I'm also having trouble with the bow speakers over-powering the cabin speakers. I'm not sure how the 45watts from the H/U could trump 100 watts from the amp but they sure do!! I had to adjust the front/rear fade so it cut out the bow speakers a little bit. I obviously have some work to do yet

Use a PAC LC1 to control the volume independently. I got the idea from talltigeguy. I have 3 of them on my dash. One controls the tower, one the cabin and one the subwoofer. I have no control over cabin bow or cockpit though.
