A couple sets of y-adaptors to manually connect to the amp inputs solved the issue. XP's amp is a Cadence amp...It's not an optical illusion.
It just looks like one.....

That is the easy test. Occasionally we see the motor adhesives fail; i.e. the magnet and/or the back plate become separated; it still sticks together due to magnetism, but the stuff goes out of alignment and it prevents the cone from moving.
One can also burn a coil open without it falling off of the former, resulting in an electrically open circuit. I doubt this is the case, as you say the woofer moves some....Last edited by philwsailz; 04-24-2008, 08:40 PM.It's not an optical illusion.

You should still get huge volume.
I finally installed a sealed enclosure, much much better. But the "barely any sound" statement, I don't understand.

There's a big difference between a free-air install and just wiring it up on the ground. He had it wired up on a bench. A critical component of a free-air woofer is the baffle. That is what makes it work.
And yes, free-air subs can and do pound. I have one and recommend it to anyone looking for a sub with limited room.http://www.wakeboatworld.com
