    Kicker KMT6 tower Speakers

    Has anyone heard thesee speakers?
Are they loud enough to hear riding at 80-85 feet and beyond with a decent amp?

Just wondering if its worth the money I will save over Wetsounds.

No as far as I understand you will not hear them that far back on the boat...they were on the demo model Z1 that my dealer had and they were weak at best....wetsounds all the way if you want to hear that distance etc..
      IMHO

I can get the Kickers on ebay for less then $300 with shipping for a pair (4 total). That is less then half for the wetsounds.

Trying to be as cheap as possible. I have a friend with Kicker speakers and we have no problem hearing them back at 80 feet. Wet sounds are great, I have heard them and everything, but I just dont think they are worth that kinda money.

Wetsounds is a nice product but can cost some money. However, Wetsounds with a horrible amp will sound terrible. Take the time to get a very good amp for the speakers.

Phil, our local stereo guru, can answer your question and Wetsounds1 also.

Simple as that especially in the electronics world.
Good luck I am sure you will find the right mix

The KICKER KMT6 is a great product for the price. You can probably find it at $500.00 a pair or less.

Buffman, I hate to "re-buff" you, but if you thought the pair on the Z1 sounded weak, they would have had to been set up wrong. At 93 db efficiency, the KMT6 is one of the loudest tower speakers on the market. They are designed to handle 150 watts of RMS power, so you can really pour some coals to them. Yes, you can hear the KMT6 at the end of the rope for sure.

A good amplifier for the KMT6 will be on that can deliver a solid 150 watss of RMS power into a four ohm load.
The KICKER ZX450.2 is a good choice.

DA makes a good point right above my post. Speakers are only one part of a good system. Make sure you are making appropriate choices from the battery all the way to your ears, and remember this too: you have to get the system set up correctly. It is possible, (even easy) to take even a very good system and make it sound horrible.

Thanks for the input. I think I am going to go with the Kickers due to the price. I would rather save the money and be able to ride a few more times this year.

Stay in touch, let us know what power you intend to use, and let's take the opportunity to make sure that everything is set up correctly; gains and crossovers in particular.

If you ever have any questions regarding KICKER product, feel free to post here, or just PM.

No worry Phil thats why we have you to "buff" out the issues...ha
I agree it could easily have been the amp etc in the setup....

There was a time that Tige put Kicker stuff into boats and did not follow the directions correctly. This caused the equipment to sound like it wasn't powerful enough. Phil and SP have helped out tremendously with owners and getting the equipment back up to levels that it should have been before it left Tige's factory.

No fault of most of the guys at Tige' either. Engineering, purchasing, etc. are all top-notch. Documentation was superb too.

It is just that every so often there would be "that guy" on the line; someone who thought they knew more about audio than anyone else who would take it upon himself to "redesign" the system.

No, bridging does not magically make an amp more powerful...
No, input gain is not a volume knob...
No, using a crossover is not a Jedi no-no... Using the cross-over does not send you to the dark side...
No, bass boost will not make a 10" woofer sound like a 15...
No, Kicker does not manufacture a flux capacitor, and it will nott help "bass-hits"......

Now go Marty McFly, clean the Delorean....
