My amps are located in the starboard forward storage locker ( under the glove box) my WS EQ is flush mounted under the steering wheel ( just like Tim's in the WS RZ4) and my RCA connectors are 20FT long. ( 4 sets) They run in behind the seats in the bow area, basically the longest route but also the cleanest.

This was my reply to your question the 1st time you asked. Maybe you missed seeing it..

I saw it and def noted it. I just posted a general question instead of pointing out specific usernames. Thanks!! Did you have much slack with 20' or was it just enough?

I thought mine were just perfect, I would not want to use any shorter of line in my boat.

I know the VE is narrower in the front so you might make it with 17 footers, but with buying online I would always want to be a bit longer then to short.

Plus there is lots of places to hide the extra line.

        Hope this helps.

Thanks. I was worried about how much quality is lost when you start getting into cables that long. If there is...i was trying to avoid having a lot of excess line.

Does anyone have any opinions about how the length of the cable impacts quality of sound? Does it reallyl matter if I buy a 17' vs a 20'?

From what I was told, boats do not have the same environment as cars do, the high end RCA's are somewhat overkill for a boat, as they do not really have to work as hard to protect the signals, but with that said, I used all Stinger HPM series which is the best they make it ( about $ 250 for all the runs I bought them online)

With that said, I am just like you I want to the cleanest possible sound and I tend to build stuff with no compromises so I have no regrets.

If you want to be sure, I would wait until you have your boat out of storage and then take a piece of string and run it in the same path as your RCA's will take, run them from your amp(s) and Deck to your EQ and then measure.

It will take a few days to get everything mounted anyways and laid out, so that should give you time to order the exact RCA's while you mount everything else.

With sound quality being a concern, what have you got planned? sounds big?

Nothing Major really compared to some boats on this site:

-Wetsounds Pro 80s (1 set). I would like more if i can utilize my current amp setup. I will likely try to supplement by year end if i can afford with gas.
-Kicker Solo 12in L5 in custom vented box.
              -Kicker KM series deck speakers
-3 Kicker amps (650.4 bridged for tower, 750.1 for sub, and 350.4 for deck)
              -Stock Clarion HU

All installed last year. It sounds good but i know there is more potential. I need to get my power source fixed (bigger batteries) and do a better job of charging them. That will help some. It still needs quite a bit of tweaking.

I might have missed this, but what are the dimensions of the ws420?

I sat in the boat last night and I think I'll hit my knees on it if I mount it under the dash. I'm thinking of mounting down by the throttle.

It doesnt even come close to hitting my knees - granted different boats etc and the visionair chair moves front to back to that might help and I am 5' 10" so all that said it works great under the dash.

The order has been placed! I will likely post up more questions as I get ready for the install.

                        Buff,
Did you utilize existing mounting locations or did you have to create your own?

I don't like the sound of this. Is there any chance you could get me a close up pic of the bracket (installed is fine)?
