    Wetsounds WS-420

I'm seriously considering making this purchase. Anyone have any experience with this? I was wondering if you like it.

Don't even think twice about it. Buy it. It is sweeeet. Love the ability to play with the equalizer/volume of the tower speaks independently of the boat speaks. AUX in, PA system for goofin around, and you can't hook it up to other boats with the same 420, and play through them all from one source. Its a steal at ~$300. I don't know what it is, but just hooking up your amps through the 420 instead of the headunit really cleans up the sound.

I like it, along with all of Tim's offerings, but like the others it just seems priced a little too high.

        For me, worth every penny.

It really cleans up the sound, and offers advantages never really seen before.

The ability to control both the tower and in boat separate is priceless!

I got the infinity system before others came out with this stuff. It gives me the talk back mic, and I have a volume level for the tower speakers on the mic. I have replaced the speakers, they were not that great. But the ability to adjust the volume, and talk back is amazing. Do you have kids? Do you teach people how to wakeboard/ski/surf? You will love the mic. It helps teach people and help them get better much better than waiting til they fall and comm with them. The mic itself and the volume control of the 420 is worth it alone. Although, the infinity volume on the mic, is very cool.

Thanks to all. I do a lot of teaching. In fact, before last summer, most of the people that i pull had never wakeboarded. The talk back is a really attractive option (along with eq and volume of course).

Let me ask another question. Did you guys install in the cockpit area? My concern is that my amps are in the dry storage. I'm not sure if I can find RCAs long enough to run from the head unit, around the bow to the cockpit and back. Is this what you guys did?

I just redid my complete system for this year, I will post pics later this week when it comes home from the shop doing the work.
My amps are located in the starboard forward storage locker ( under the glove box) my WS EQ is flush mounted under the steering wheel ( just like Tim's in the WS RZ4) and my RCA connectors are 20FT long. ( 4 sets) They run in behind the seats in the bow area, basically the longest route but also the cleanest.

I have looked at the wiring diagram on wetsounds.com for information on how to run power and ground to the 420. Unfortunately, it doesn't show this on the diagram. Can you guys fill me in on how you ran power and ground? What size cables? Did you run straight to the battery or did you add an inline fuse? I'm trying to price out all the wiring I will need and I don't have a clue on the ground/power for this. Thanks!

The power is already fused. I just tapped into a switched power and grounded to a ground under the dash. You have to run a remote turn on just like an amplifier plus 4 RCA cables (that's where the real money goes). One from your source and then three back to your amps. You'll need about 15 feet each if you run from the port side head unit to the starboard dash area.

It should be extremely low current, so just hook it to 12V under the dash and add a relay from the HU.

For those who have installed, can you tell me where in the cockpit you installed and what lenght of RCAs were required? I have 15', 17', and 20' available to me, but i have to order online. Unfortunately, i'm not in a position where I can run out to the boat and measure for myself! TIA.

doesn't say exact length but every boat/location is different....
You could call Tim/Justin @ wetsounds as they may have more info for ya.
