So a little good news and a lot of bad news. The good news is the amps arrived. The bad news is the weather was lousy today so nothing got done. The really bad news is that my buddy and the Arc dealer vetoed my decision for a 300.4 and sent me a 300.2. They are saying that the 300.4 bridged will be too hot and too powerful for the 485s but is willing to swap it if I insist. For the same money I'd rather have the 300.4 but the heat is the only thing that I'm not certain about. What do you all think?
Call them up and have them send you the 300.4!! They are WRONG. WAY WRONG.
You NEED the 300.4. Trust me. If they have a problem with it, have them call me. It seems they have never installed our speakers before. I am running 440 watts into EACH 485 on my boat. The 300.4 will do 350 watts to each. RMS rating for the 485 is 300 watts.
Just by looking at the specs, the 300.2 does 180x2. Not even up to our RMS rating. So even someone who has never installed our speakers should be able to look at specs and match RMS ratings. I always run more than RMS ratings as well to make sure you have some good headroom.
Looks like we're back on. The 300.4 is on its way and should be here by Thursday. Too late for this weekends camping trip but it will be done by October.

Update. Still waiting on the 300.4 to show up, hopefully it will be in by tomorrow. All the speakers and amps are out. Found out the sub is an older W3. The new headunit is in. It is a little smaller then the CMD5 so there are some exposed screws just to the right and left of the headunit now. The CCA-IPOD connector is tiny, I don't know how it will work compared to the big box they had before. The Tweeters were epoxied in so they aren't coming out. The LED's fit in the tweeter pod but don't really have a way to mount, I'll get you some pics later. The XS650s are a pain in the butt, an even 1/4" bigger on all sides; we're going to be cutting the holes tomorrow. Check the pics below.
The sub is old and has been in there. It's always sounded ok, we'll see what the Arc power does to it. It was on 2 channels of the PG I had before. It definitely has some power but it will be the weakest part of the system. Tim do you have any ideas on how to rectify that ?
