    Where is 200 HZ?

I posted this thread last night, but must have forgot to hit the submit button. If someone finds it, let me know where I put it.

My NVS Tyrants say to put the crossover to 200 Hz. My Precision Power PCX 4125 has a crossover that is labeled 20 at the bottom and 20K at the top. So am I right to assume that it is a logarithmic scale? That would mean that 200 Hz is about a third of the way up, 2000 Hz is about 2/3 of the way up and 20K is all the way. Am I right?

I was just out there goofing around with the amp. The upper end is actually labeled as '4K' and the lower end is labeled '30'.

I was in the right ballpark.

You probably already figured it out, but 200Hz is a really high bass note. Many woofer test will ocsillate from 20Hz to 200Hz. Human ear is about 40Hz to 20hZ depending on hearing loss.

So how do I know if the crossover is at 200 Hz? That is the question.

          You have to guess.

Actually a better way is to take a 200Hz tone and play it. Then tune the EQ until it cuts off. Give me a few and I will link you one up.

Thanks! I will get that to my ipod and play around with that. I think that is going to be very useful. I really appreciate it!

I set all my xovers with test tones also. Play the tone on a loop and adjust till the speaker cuts out.

I got to play around with my test tone today. It worked like a charm. The only problem is that I need a second person to tell me for sure when it cuts out because when I have my upper body buried in the amp compartment, I think that I know when it cuts out, but am not sure when it is about perfect. The crossover is turned with a tiny flat blade screwdriver and it is not quite simple to do.

Lovin' Powell is coming over tonight to do my taxes, looks like I will enlist him for something funner too.

LP helped with the crossover settings. I just left the crossover where I can just barely hear the 200 HZ tone come in at full strength. The speakers sound very good that way.

You import them into your iTunes library. I classified them separately so I could find them.
