What type of swallow are we talking about?

I have a feeling I'll be looking for advice on gains and crossover for my system after this weekend. I think a similar discussion to this ensued when I asked about my speaker wiring...

So if I have this right, this weekend when I add my new amp, I am not going to hook it up to anything. I will meditate and say ohmmm, ohmmm twice and all will be good with my 2 channel amp and speakeres wired in parallel . the to amps that came with the boat are the kicker ZX700.5 and the ZX350.4. but after i got a closer look, the service department at the dealership is lazy. You were right phil, they didnt run the additional wiring when they installed the second set of speakers. So the amp is deffinatly being pushed way to hard. So my next question is does anyone have any suggestions or advice about how to run the additional speaker wire through the tower. It seems like its gonna be a nightmare!! And thanks to everyone who replied, all you guys are awsome!!!

See the second diagram in Phil's post. That is one easy way to do it. The optimal way would be to pull new wire through the tower.

Theoretically, an amp that has its output load halved will double its power. That is the theoretical max; you cannot get more than double, and I don't know of an amp that will deliver more than 2x power at 1/2 the load.

A Kicker amp does not double its power when you halve its load.

This is what I thought as well, but I swore I just saw a Kicker amp that put out over double at 2 ohms. Maybe it was an ebay listing.

I know JL has some funky layouts that allow over triple output on 3 channel, but that is an entirely different animal.

I am in the same boat as you with my 07 24ve tower of power. I purchased a new zx650.4 for the tower and I am changing the Kicker speakers to the Wet Sounds xs 650s B stock I picked up last month.
CHPTHRIL sent me a nice write up on how to pull the extra wires through the tower. I will shoot you a PM with it.

I have not done the installation yet. but the plan is to use 1 chanel per speaker so all four chanels will be used on the 4 tower speakers. If I am not satisfied, I will add a couple Pro 80s and put the XS 650s in the boat.
