    Xpjim1's Stereo Thread

Ok this will be a short thread. This is just the tease before I upgrade the amp and add a pair of Pro 60's and a pair of MB8's. I know I cannot rival Doms thread in raw power, size wiring but this will be a nice easy change out I hope.

Again this is the tease showing the new amp, an MB8 and the pair of Pro 60's.
Hopefully more after this weekend. Stay tuned!!

Not sure. I will let you know. That would be a question for Tim. I am doing this because 2 pairs of Pro 60's sounded a little bright on a friends boat. Not sure of his exact set up. I thought this would be better for my ears and I would be one of the first with this set up.

Ok , started the stereo install. Large person working in cramped area does not work well.

First on the list was to pull the new 12 guage speaker wire to replace the 14 guage in the tower. A friend said he could get the wire and asked what lengths. I said 20 and 25' . He left the wire in my mailbox and they we lableled short and long sections. My bad for not measuring. I spliced the new wire onto the old pulled the grommets and started pulling the wire. all was going well until where the wire goes back into the tower and thru the fiberglass. I could not get in there to help guide and one of my splices let loose. Was not bad as I pulled the one set back and ducked taped it and was able to get it thru. I was actually pretty happy. Then I pulled it into under the glove box and one set of wires was great and made it to the amp. The other section was about 4 feet to short. wt

I called my friend and he saif his buddy only had a 17' and 18' from his install. Told him it would have been nice for him to tell me they were shorter than I needed. Off to the store to buy some speaker wire to splice on the short section.

Next came to pull the 0/1 gauge power and ground wire from the rear battery compartment to the front storage. Both battery's connect to the perko switch. The out from the perko goes to a stud were they attach that cable and the cable to the starter. The old amps power wire was attached to that stud. I realized I did not have a crimper to put the lugs on the cable so off to the golf cart store. very nice people as they crimped the lugs for free and back to the house. I ran the cable from the storage to the rear battery. Yes they were long enough. I cut the power wire, added a 100 amp fuse holder .

                  So far so good.

Yes I know this thread is useless without phots's

Now I went to hang the speakers. I was going to hang them originally on the rear bar but after i hung the MB-8's I tested the bimini and there was no way it would be able to open. So I changed my plans and put them on the bar towards the bow. I originally was going to hang them on the outside of a support bar. I hung the port side and then went to hang the starboard side and this is when I realized my tower is not symetrical. The port side about a 3 inch straight section before the bend the starboard side about an inch before the bend begins. I hung the MB-8 on the inside of the support bar right next to the wire grommets. I hung the Pro -60's inside of that. Actually it really looks like my tower is bent.

I need to shorten 2 poles on the bimini by an inch and it will work perfectly. Those MB-8's are big. I can open the bimini if I push on the bimini pole so it cears the bottom of the MB-8's

Kind of hard to hang with only 1 working shoulder.

I went to mount the amp, ground distribution block and power block was there was no way with only one good arm. I hooked up all the wires for a test. I only hooked up the MB-8's as I had nothing to splice the wired to run parrallel and I got sound. Had something wierd happen though. When I turn on the batterys the protection light comes on the new amp. This is without the key being turned on. when I turn the key on the red light goes out and the power light goes on and all is well. I will leave that for the final touch in two weeks. I am taking it to an installer to mount the amps, groun and power block. No way I can get in there.

Now for some crappy pictures as it was getting dark

                          WOW! That looks awesome!

The MB-8 is designed for those who prefer more mid bass punch vs those who want pure volume. They are designed to pair nicely with the PRO 60 or even PRO 80. Yes you can hear them at 80 feet.

There are so many ways people use their tower systems. Some want the loudest on the lake, some surf more than wakeboard, some hang out in party coves.

So we like to have different options for each persons listening style. The MB-8 with the PRO 60 is our "double up" system. Designed for those who want more punch but are not wanting to be the loudest on the lake. It is the happy medium in terms of output and balance.

                          Hope that helps.

Is that your only amp? What one are you using for the interior speakers?
Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?
