I have also thought about building some sort of exhaust ventalation system in the boat. compartment using blower fans.

Just get a fan that plugs into your 12V and point it at your amps......

                  Anhaney,

Kicker is as good as anybody out there IMO, but you can use any brand amp you choose. Dont confuse Watts output with quality.

The only issues from the Kickers is with the Tige Tower O power. Tige likes to run 4 speaker with 2 leads, so the speakers are in parallel, and then bridged. The amp is really hump'n to put out about 350W and will get hot and drop into protect mode. I re-wired mine last Feb per Phil's advise and I can now run wide open with not a lot of heat, and no clipping or amp shut down.

I recently ask Phil about going with a new amp that would be a better match for 4 KS65.2's then the factory installed ZX350.4 (perfect for 2 Kickers, or even 2 Pro 60's) and here is the response.

                  Phil

Thinking about a new amp for my tower speakers. I think the zx350.4 is not the best match for them and they are under power. What are your suggestions/thoughts.

Current set up: ZX350.4, (4) KS65.2 component tower speakers wired one per channel.

Here is what I'm considering: ZX350.2 or the ZX650.4
Go with the 650.4 at 120+ watts per channel into each (slightly less than) 4-ohm load.

The 350.2 will deliver a little less power; not really noticeable, but the 640.4 at 4-ohms per channel has a real easy load to drive, and it will go all day. The 350.2 with a pair of parallel loads will be pulling basically double the current through the output devices, and will run hotter in all probability.

I will generally tend towards the 4-ohm per channel solution; it always results in a more stable thermal situation...

anhaney a 1200w amp is gonna cost you some bling! the 1200 watts you are looking at are a D series amp. They are not clear, and will not perform how you want. If your looking at running one speaker per channel you will need an "A" series amp to push the speakers, but then again you also need new speakers. Your speakers you have now are not worthy of that much power and that good of an amp.

If your stepping up to dbot, or NVS or wetsounds then you should go that route, otherwise I would not waste the time or the money on an amp. Don't get an expensive amp and cheap speakers, you still will have cheap sound. You want clear and loud, you have to have the speakers first and the amp second.

When I first had the NVS's I had a ppi amp that worked treat and ran it in serial and it was the loudest on the market. By buying the zapco amp all I got was clear music at slightly louder dB.

Just some insight and things to think about to add to your confusion of thinking about what you want to do

I know now you have to point it out and make the descions harder. The wife says leave it alone and just add the two extra tower speakers and use what we have. Maybe that is what I need to do.

I am also looking at chaning the ballast system around a bit so she wants me to decide where I want to put the money I have saved into the boat. Yes she bought me the boat and now I have to figure out how to pay for all the extra stuff I want to do. She says she bought me the boat will all the extras for a reason so I would not have to do this and now I want to change it or or improve on it.

It is from talking to all you guys See What You Did To me J/K. It is all good I will figure it out.

We know you are adding a 2nd pair of tower speakers, Give us the run down on what you have now, ie. # of amps and specs, # of cabin speakers, sub ? You might be able to put together a great system for just a little coin. May not rival an NVS/Wet Sounds setup, but will still rock.

Even @ .5 the rated RMS, my 4 Kickers are audible at the end of the line

Ok here goes. Clairon Amps APX480M and 280M The 480 is running 4 Cabin speakers and Tweeters on two Cannels all in sieres and the other is running the sub in Bridged mode accross two channels.

The the APX280M is running the tower speakers by them selves. Each on its own channel. The nose speakers and tweeters are running of the deck.

Then I bought form DOMSZ06 his Clarion APX200 2 channel amp that I have to do somthing with.

Oaky open to ideas. I want clean sound it does not have to be perfectly clear and I want to be able to hear it when boarding.

                                I'm guessing the APX280m is a 2 chnl, is the APX480 a 2 or 4 chnl?
