    ipod hook-up?

I am thinking about getting a ipod and am wondering what you ipod owners use to hook it up to your stereo in the boat. Is it a cable that goes into the ear phone plug to the aux rca's or something else? I have a xmd3 stereo.

Ok, I was thinking of another type of plug.

Is there one that hooks up to the ipod using apples connection to rca's?

              Two ways are typical.

One is for the radio to be capable of controlling the iPod. That type of connection will go out the bottom of the iPod, and once connected, the radio will display the iPod info on the radio screen.

More common, and more affordable is the 1/8" 3.5mm mini plug output from the iPod, (out the earphone socket) to either the same style mini plug or RCA cables. This connection passes the audio only, and will not allow the radio to control the iPod player.

I know of no connection that goes multi-pin from the bottom of the iPod to RCA.

                  here, do it this way:

                  www.mobileblackbox.com

go get one of their V6000's. Broadcast on a clear FM frequency.

This will allow you to transmit to every other boat in the raft-up as well; it is REAL COOL to have everyone playing the exact same thing when you go tie up in party cove...

I have done it two seasons now with the V5000 and it is a really easy thing to do, and a lot of fune too.

Out of the 3 ways, the FM will always be the worst way, as far as sound. The best, is using line level input which can only come from the dock connector.

It isn't, but I have tested all three, line level is a clear winner. I forgot to mention the cassette adapter, which is better then FM. Anything is better than FM.
