this is a good idea as well

i like the same song as well. That way all the people can listen to the same criteria.

I made my system for both, when I want the riders to here the music I turn the NVS's on, and the bass is for on the beach partying. Needless to say everyone has good systems, just personal taste really Guess we can play next year and just see what happens

I have competed in the stereo contest our dealer puts on here in Colorado and it seems to get down to the song selected playing a big part in the winning selection. For everyone involved it only seems right that the same song would level the playing field as far as this goes. Then it gets down to the personal tastes of the judges.

Yeah, your system is definitely setup for both. My bass sounds good in the boat, but as soon as you're out of the boat -- not enough. Dom, you need to take your boat to Lake Powell and go up one of the canyon's that have a natural ampitheater from rock cave-ins. Turn your NVS' toward the ampitheater, turn up loud and crank the bass. It would sound amazing.

Agreed, it will help level the playing field and it will always boil down to personal taste.

Good idea, level playing field with a chance for somebody with a bad system to win some brownie points

Tall, had the song that starts out with the cop sirens and came charging into the bay with that blaring, it was hilarious.

That and Hadaway's "What is Love" (Theme from Night at the Roxbury) is pretty hilarious at excessive volumes.

I just got around to reading this thread. Sorry, I am sort of busy and don't wander much outside of the General Discussion threads.

A few random thoughts: I think the prop as a gift was too much. This was not meant to be a serious competition. Maybe next year someone can be in charge of just that part of the reunion and ground rules can be made and you can do DB meters, bass testers, fart and siren sounds, or make everyone play the same songs.

One of the judges told me I was clearly in the lead until I played that stupid second song that had a frequency that my NVS just did not play. I think they just went with what made them feel the best...completely subjective.

I like the idea of some showmanship for the competition and personally beleive that playing the same song from everyone would bore the death out of the majority of people there. Standing there with a DB meter would be interesting to me, but the rest of my family and most people there would rather barf. It boils down to judging it as a science vs. an art. I would prefer the art side. We should put a little creativity to it, not just more Watts.

The guy who won it definitely chose 2 songs that showcased his system perfectly and appealed to a wide variety of people, so everyone liked it.

I think that Moki could have won if his songs were more liked in general.

DOM, the crossover on your NVS is very harsh, you need to hook up with Duane and get the newer crossover he is using. Maybe with different songs it would sound better, but even though it was clearly the loudest, it had a harshness to it that did not make me want to groove. The volume was unbeleivable.

Duane himself posted on wakeworld once that country music would make the NVS self-destruct...Don't do it.
                                Be excellent to one another.
