Okay, we'll find out that one, but also, when the radio is on, but the amp is not working, is the LED on, off, and if on, what color? It's not an optical illusion.
It just looks like one.....

Its a kicker 4405. When the amp is on and working its RED. Ive never seen it any other color besides red or off. When we have this problem the radio is on and the LED is off.
While were driving if we hit a wave it sometimes turns it on, which would tell me, loose wire. I did some more tightening today and will try it out and see how it works on the water.Common Sense is not so Common

Sorry, phil but from what I have seen on other stuff by Zad, he had a lose wire that he also connected that attached to the amp. Right Zad????
I think I have a loose wire and im checking wires but the ones Im checking dont seem to be helping. So Im trying to figure out if theres wires im not checking that I should, such as the speaker wires, Or RCA cables or whatever.Common Sense is not so Common

Wish I were there; it should not be too terribly hard to find...It's not an optical illusion.

Ok once again out on the water... and it dont work! Everything worked fine in the driveway and right after we got off the ramp. Went out next time we started the engine it didnt come on and never came on the rest of the day. We checked all the wires and fuzes, nothing was loose or burnt. Put a volt meter to the wires and the amp and its getting power but it never turns on.
We need to get this thing working by next weekend!
Is my amp dead? Is it possible for them to go out?Common Sense is not so Common

Ok went out today and it turned on everytime. Last night we couldnt get it to turn on at all. Now all of a sudden it works and I know as soon as we start the engine we will have this problem again. What would cause the amp to work when the engine hasnt run for a while?
We know its not a loose wire. We checked and rechecked all the wires, we put a multimeter to them and the power was going to the amp but it wasnt turning on. Now this morning I go out and turn the key and it turns on. Is there an internal problem on the amp?Last edited by zad0030; 07-22-2007, 03:22 PM.Common Sense is not so Common

I am beginning to believe there is a problem with your amp.
Reading this thread today jogs my memory to a time a few years back when I was using some vacuum-tube amplification in my vehicle. Things started acting up, and eventually, the only way I could get the amp to work was to have the vehicle running, turn the stereo on, and then remove and re-install the power fuses under the hood. Complete and total pain.
I might be thinking service or replacement at this point. Sorry pal, but that is where everything is pointing.
Keep us informed...It's not an optical illusion.

What do you think is wrong with it? Would it be cheaper just to get a new amp?Common Sense is not so Common
