Controlling the bass in the cabin speakers

I recently changed out my HU to a unit that has sub preamp outs. I have noticed that all the cabin speakers still thump pretty hard along with the sub. The default for the LPF on the HU is "off" but has settings for 78 and 125. My cabin speakers are RF T162 (six of them, 2 front, 4 rear). The Wetsounds threesom is on the tower and really shouldn't need any bass. Should I change the setting to 125 hz or is there a way to adjust this through the two RF P8004 amps?

The LPF usually only sets the cut-off for the sub channel. The bass for the cabin will be controlled using the "BASS" adjusment in most cases.

I thought the LPF cuts the bass out of the "cabin" speakers so only the sub would thump???? Yes,No???

We have a Remote bass knob.. Does yours have the option for it? If its an amp then adjust the gain a bit. or Just turn the bass down on the dock

When you say "cut off for the sub channel", is that where the sub picks up all bass below that frequency?

Typically the H/U will deliver a full range pre-amp output to front and rear, left and right, regardless to the Low Pass settings.

Assuming you are using amplifier(s) for all speakers, you need to go to the amplifier and turn on the High Pass Filter(s), AKA crossovoers for the full range channels of the amp(s) driving your cabin speakers. More often than not a crossover frequency somewhere between 80 and 125 Hz does the job for most tastes and music styles.

If you are running H/U power only to the cabin speakers, you will be best served by using the bass contral as mentioned above, or one could install some capacitors in series with the cabin speakers to roll the bass off. The specific capacitor type used to be called, (and they may still be) "bass blocker" capacitors.

Are you running an amp? Does it have built-in crossovers?
                  It's not an optical illusion.
                  It just looks like one.....

I have two RF P8004 amps to control 6 RF T162 cabin speakers, one RF 12" sub, and the Wetsounds threesom on the tower. I believe all the cabin speakers are on one amp and the Wetsounds and sub on the other.
