Not a good test... All that tells you is that the accesory lead from the back of the ignition switch turns off when you crank the motor.
My point is this: you do not want the starter motor pulling juice through your stereo's overcurrent protection.
We were so vague and long-winded the last time on this.... Let me say it, simply...
For all positive power wires for the stereo, install a fuse or relay on the power wire as close as possible to the battery or the battery switch as possible, but NOT BETWEEN ANY BATTERY AND THE BATTERY SWITCH.
If you follow that simple statement exactly, there will be no chance of accidentally putting the stereo's over current protection in front of the starter motor.
