Running the wire isn't the hard part. It's drilling into your pretty tower, hull, and fishing the starting material through thats the killer.

What would SPHARIS do if he were in my position?

Too bad that they don't have wireless speakers yet for this. They have already created the ability to charge batteries via IR...... Hummmm.... Maybe something to look into.... Ya think?????

String, cotton ball, shop vac. You can figure out the rest!

I just don't know how big of a deal it is to have 12 gauge vs 14 for the tower speakers.

I also worry about drilling a massive hole in the tower.

Not sure what tower you have, but I just ran 4 14ga wires through my "E" tower. The hardest part was at the gunwale. Had to drill it out to 9/16 and pull the wire with the tower leg still off to the side, then lower it down and bolt it up. Other than that, there was plenty of room in the tower tubes themselves.

I have the E tower. I'm pushing around 225 amps to a set of pro80s through approx 30-35ft of wire (rough measurments)

                  Here are my concerns:
1-I do not know if 14 gauge is big enough.
2-I don't know how difficult it will be to run 12 gauge and if it will effect me lowering the tower when needed.
3-I don't know if I can stomach drilling a hole big enough for 12 gauge in my new tower.

Being a new boat, new tower and the size of the speakers, I don't know what to do. If I was still in my 05, I wouldn't worry about it at all.

1-may be a stupid ? but a set of pro 80's = 4 speakers right? If so, are you going to run 1 12ga per pair or 1 12ga per speaker (Ithing would be better)
2-where are your amps, I used just less than a 100 feet of 14ga on 4 runs.
3-2 12ga will fit through a 7/16 hole. The only holes you will need to drill will be for the wires to drop out of the tower at the speakers and one at the starboard rear leg (see pics in thread "do I have a bad channel) for the wires to pass through the gunwale.

I used a clotheshanger for the horizontal parts, and floss for the verts (someone on here mentioned the use of floss), and it worked OK.

14AWG will be fine if you run each speaker it's own.

That is available, but it isn't a good format yet. Too much baggage on each end. I can get into details if you want.

No need for that topic. The weight of the battery in the speaker pods would be a killer to the tower alone.

1 set of pro80s is only 2 speakers. I will run wire to each speaker individually for a total of 2 wires. If I were running wire too 4 speakers, I would use about 100 ft (my estimations above were rough), so our lengths will be the same. I'm not so worried about the hole in the gunwale/base of tower. I'm more concerned about gaping holes at the top where the wire drops down to connect to each speaker.

Is this kinda what you are running? one of these?

Like Spharis said, 14ga would do fine but you would not have any prob pulling 2 12ga's through either. 100ft will be more than enough. I would pull the wire of the spool, double it over in the middle, tie my string in the fold, and pull it through to the speakers.

I found it easier to pull in stages. Pull all the wire up through the gunwale first, then through to the tower fold, and then to the speaker hole.

All you need for the wire holes are a couple of rubber grommets to finish it off.

What you have circled is the 485. I'm only running the smaller single speakers on the outside of the circle. Together, all three make up what wetsounds calls the "threesome".
