Dom, did you get your alt from DB? If you did call Mike at DB, he was a big help to me when trying to go 1 wire on mine.

BTW; I'm, FREAKING SORE TODAY I did a buddies tower speakers, amp and second batt install on his Sanger V215 Saturday while he's in Florida for family matters. He wanted it for Shasta next weekend so i did the "good guy" thing and helped a buddy out, did i say i'm FREAKING SORE?

        Razz,

Ok, i'll give him a call.

        Thanks.

Sorry to hear your sore, but I can feel you. My arms and hands are just now healing up from the fiberglass getting all cut up and in my skin. It sucked.

It's all good, he's buying the beer next week! He called me Staurday night to see how things went and i screwed with him by saying it hit the fan, wires fried, boat won't run, blah, blah! He freaked out at first then figured out i was messin' with him and we had a good laugh.

so after talking with anhaney and DB the green I don't have to use

The red needs to go to a Hot all the time, and then the black goes to an ignition source.

SO>..... break out the meter and test light, and lets see which of my stock wires is which

One of my amps throughput RCA's didnt work. So gotta bypass it, and check to see if the other one does. Anyone recommend a freq for bass blockers? for my front 6.5's the bass is loud and crsip, can't wait for the 12's

ok, well here is the long and short of it.

First off, the pics are pics of the rear compartment how it will look, as well as a perko switch pic for I belive phil.

                          So............

The first problem I had with no tunes was due to the first amp for my subs that is running all the rest, well the RCA, it's RCA OUTPUT was bad. So for now I Just split the RCA's from the equalizer and ran it to my second amp. I found out that my third amp has good everything, so I'll be exchanging the first and third amps, so I don't have to run as much RCA Connections.

Dialed in the Bass, and for 3 tens, I'm impressed. I can't wait for the 12's.

Now the bad. As I was hoooking up the NVS's I set the amp to exactly what Duane had told me, wow, not to hard right? well when I play them I hear a nice crackling. Not too happy about that. I happen to be playing this Madonna song, and notice that not only are the NVS's crackling, so are every 6.5. it just so happened I couldn't hear it before. Well Sherlock Dom comes into play and I narrow it down to just the HU. When I play the Ipod directly through my equalizer, the NVS's SCREAM!!! I quickly kill the music thinking I have the gains too high, oh no. The gains are at 0 !!! (Moki, watch out!!) I'm pretty sure that everyone heard, "She thinks my tractor is sexy" for about 9 blocks. I turn the gains to 10% and my volume to 15% and those NVS's Hurt my ears, wow are they loud. I thought I had a good amp before, but this zapco is AMAZING!!

Anyway my question for anyone that reads this thread is this. I talked to Duane and he said that I probably have one of two things wrong creating this "crackling" noise in my speakers. One is a ground loop, the other is a bad HU. I ran a ground directly from the ground on the HU and a separate ground on the HU all the way to the battery, and it's still there. Anyone think of anything else? or do I get to go HU shopping, and Zad gets my remotes?

How is the iPod connected to the head unit?

If from the headphone output, it is possible that the signal is stronger/hotter than the AUX input will take without clipping. If that is the case, simply turn the volume on the iPod down.

If you have a true iPod adaptor, you may be more challenged, but try again turning the volume down at the iPod. I am certainly not as familiar with any and all adaptors that exist out there.

My reasoning: I use computer(s) as media serviers, and regularly use the headphone output. When using WIndows Media Player in my laptop, I know that the reference output volume on the volume control in Media Player is 19 out of 100 to ensure lack of clipping, for those audio systems where my laptop is ever connected.

                              *****EDIT*****

Does the crackling happen with EVERY source, (radio, CD iPod) or just the iPod? That is the first trouble-shooting thing to find out.

I did notice phil that when I turn the ipod down, it appears the "crackling" goes away. It was getting late, and I didn't have time to "retune" the other amps to the lower ipod level. I'll try that before I go and buy a new HU. I'm just worried though if it can't handle it, what happens when some drunk idiot turns it up full strength. If I recall last night when I was playing with it when I turned the ipod down and the HU to 30 it didn't appear to be any cracklling.

I'm just using RCA inputs for the HU and the IPOD.
