Interesting, I would have expected you to say the opposite.

I went by the Local Target today, and they have something similar to the Boxwave cable evilOne suggested. But I think I am going to get the Box wave one since it is retractable.

Thanks guys...and now on to some Real stereo questions!

Nah.....Monster Cables are a gimmick and a waste of money. Large production houses would buy it if it made a huge difference in sound. They opt to usually build their own cable, and it comes on big spools.

Somewhere someone had done test with monster and regular old coax and phone line. The coax and phonline outperfromed the monster rca's. Cables are only as good as the weakest transfer point, and monster has to use lead solder just like everyone else. Lead is always the wort part fo the signal cable. 1000000% pure copper doesn't mean jack if it is going through a tin/lead connection.

Let me see if I can dig up some videos on this.....I know some were posted online a long time ago.

couldn't have said it better myself. Plus, if you run a 20 foot din to RCA cord, you can sit in the water, and never get in the boat to change the music With the otter box, you don't have to worry bout it getting wet either It works, trust me

So the first real question: I want to hook my Ipod up to my boat. I have the Clarion XMD 3. What's my best option?
I just have the same head unit and use the din to rca chord and use the input, works GREAT!

Never thought about a longer cable, I just may have to run one from the transom storage to the HU

Yeah I have two cables, since I thought one was bad. The shorter one really sucks, I mean you can't get out of the boat with it, so this year I need to buy a longer one to replace the broken long one. It's so nice!!! I just have mine laying around on the floor, don't have it tucked away anywhere, probably will do that this year. Run it back to the transom when I run the new power wire for the amps

Agreed and agreed. The only reason I posted the picture of the monster was because they had a nice pretty picture of the connectors.

Well crap! How did you bums slip the stereo category past me It's about time we have a dedicated audio spot so SP can show off!

Obligitory stereo content: So onto the iPod subject, I'm glad i waited to buy mu HU as Pioneer just came out with all new units for '07 with built in iPod capabilities. You no longer need their darn box and it has aux in on the face as well. I'm picking up the DEH-4900ib, all media capable, iPod direct connect, three preouts, too cool!

Getting there, the Orion amps are on the way and i have to get the HU and wiring and the install will begin.
