    Sub Location on R21

Chp and other stereo guru's...any advantage to having the sub located where it is at on the RZX vs traditionally under the helm?

I've been thinking about putting my sub in the same spot on my R21 assuming it will fit....

Is it beefy enough to support a woofer without flexing
Is it flat enough for a good seal
Is the cavity open if using an IB or are you able to back load an enclosure depending on the woofer of choice
does is offer 100% front to rear isolation if going IB

That configuration is similar in boats like MB, CC and a few bow riders and cruisers. Its not my preference as the woofer tends to vibrate the deck. Under helm in a thick rigid wall like we used to have on tige, is the best IMO.

Thanks...I haven't measured yet because I hope to have a 12" FA (any news?) but if that doesn't happen then it would be the standard 10".....part of what drove me to looking at that placement is if I remember right, at least on the R21, the wall under the helm isn't 1 piece anymore...I believe it has a square cutout that the sub's are placed in now...

Our boat show opens next week, the 8th. I hope to get a good look at a couple 17's, if the dealer will let me I do know that under the helm is still the spot on most of the the boats and its still the 10fa

          Chp,

Did you get a chance to crawl around an R21? Still recommend the traditional placement?

Yes, the helm wall is still better than the under seat location , IMO

A little late to the game, although I was able to fit 3 10's under my drivers helm with plenty of leg room....On my '16 R21

haha dang that thing has to pound!

I actually just ordered the new 12" FA from Wetsounds which should cover what I'll ever need it to do....I do like the placement of your radio though...I hate having to open the glove box to access mine....

Yeah, it hits pretty hard. Although I installed a bass knob to control how hard it hits for different genres of music. Now, just to find the right set of batteries to keep it going with the boat anchored
