Hey all,
Wife and I went to the local boat show couple weeks ago and are now upgrading our R20 to a 16 Z3. Excited does not even begin to describe!!
So I have a few questions about amps and subs,
We are having having the REV10 tower of power installed, and as far as my understanding goes it has the SYN 2 And SYN6 amps installed. I installed a custom built JL Audio 12" sub in my R20 and after listening to the setups at the boat show, it looks as though I will be needing to replace the xs10fa with a custom built 12" as well for my likes.
I've talked with the dealer and it looks as though he is willing to credit me for the SYN amps and Install the SD series amps in place of them giving me more bang for the buck. I would assume It would be best to run the REV 10's off the SD2 giving me right at their 400 watt rms rating. Then run the 6 inboat XS-650's off channels 1-4 of the SD6 leaving channels 5&6 to bridge for a decent subwoofer setup.
So my questions are- How many Watts does that give me for the subwoofer? Is their a better way to run a system like I've described? Is swapping the SYN series amps for the SD series amps worth the additional cost? What 12" subwoofer would be recommended for the available power?
Dealer had recommended installing the subwoofer in the port side storage locker near the amps and venting into the cabin space, but I'm leery of that as I've read on here that you loose a lot of output by not direct radiating into the cabin. The Z3 will have the heater making it tight to install a ported enclosure, and I am ok with loosing some output but gain some SQ by installing a sealed enclosure. I've kicked around the XS-XXXV2, but I'm thinking I would be under driving it. Thanks in advance!
