    2015 R20 wetsounds upgrade questions

    So I picked up:

    Syn2
    Syn6
    WS420BT
    10FA
    WS650 1pr. Now have 6 total
    Icon8's 1pr.

I was lucky enough to pick this R20 up with a prewired tower and have found the spool of wire by the observer sear, each is marked port tower and starboard tower.

I have found a secondary spool of 1 black and 1 green wire with speaker terminals on them tucked up there as well. I unspooled them and the reach right up to where I need them to be for the WS650 that goes on the port side Basically underneath the observer seat

I have even found the 1 black and 1 gray speaker wire that goes to the subwoofer under the helm. What I cannot find is the speaker wire for the last ws650 under the helm. I've cut both wholes out which were already perferated (spelling?) Under the helm. I still need to cut the hole for the WS650 that goes under the observer seat. I did notice that there is extra wood support behind the fiberglass in this location for added strength and is the intended location for an extra 6.5" spkr.

Should the perferated speaker hole have speaker wire near it? It seams quite a bit on this R20 is prewired. And if it is prewired like everything else. What color might the spkr wires be. They must be bundled under the helm somewhere correct?

Im pretty sure that the speaker wire should be there, just likely tucked away in some split loom. To determine the color, look at the back side of the aft STBD speaker. They share the same amp circuit so they should have the same color wire. You also find that the helm speaker is wired to the aft STBD speaker, before running around the back to the port locker. But, the wire may go the other direct, meaning that the aft STBD is wired to the helm speaker, then goes around the bow or under the walkway.

To get the most out of that woofer, Be sure to check to Bjax's upgrade thread and see the mods we did to the helm.

Thanks Mike! When I reset my Tapatalk password I'll load up some progress photos. I had previously read the afore mention thread and opened up the back of the stock woofer box. It now utilizes the open space in the bow.

Attention: anyone porting behind the subwoofer do cut with caution. There are ballast lines behind the wall and tsunami pump and in 2015 they are still using bags for the front ballast on the R20's

To gain access to back side of that woofer cavity and where that sac leg and pump are, there is a panel behind the bow seat back that is held down with 1 maybe 2 screws and it lifts right out.

How noticable is the woofer once the cavity is opened up? I noticed the bass was not hitting that hard in a couple new boats I have been in recently...

It almost has to be a huge difference, the stock box on the R20 is just barely the depth of the 10fa and not much wider

I'm interested in this too as I'm pretty underwhelmed with the bass output of the stock sub. If it does make a noticeable difference it would be such an easy mod!

Having issues between ws420bt and clarion HU.. wired up remote wires for ws420bt, syn2 and syn6 to the blue/white remote wire on the back of the factory Clarion harness. The clarion user guide has the remote wire listed as blue/white.. stereo turns on but get no power to EQ and amps.. switch remote wire over to the power wire from one of my car charger 12v and the whole system gets power.. so since the blue/white HU wire isn't working what else can I use for the remote turn on.

2nd issue, can't get ws420bt to show up on my available BT devices to pair to once it has power.

3rd issue I get no sound from the HU but system all works if I use the aux in on the EQ. 2 ch rca running from fixed output from HU harness and I get nothing... switch to the rca harness clip that came as an extra harness clip with HU and tried fixed output from there and get nothing. Only thing left that I haven't tried yet is using the front or rear fader rca outputs from the rca harness.

                  Help please!

Updates. Spoke with Mike, his wealth of knowledge and some trouble shooting and I was able to get everything working properly .

Bluetooth works today. Showed up on both phones that I tried to pair to it and worked.

Wasn't getting sound from the headunit because the non fader was set to zero. Changed the RCA cables to the front soeaker RCA output on the HU harness so that I can control volume from transom.. now I just need a transom remote [emoji23] [emoji23]

Retested the blue/white remote wire from HU harness clip... worked today.. not sure why it didn't yesterday. So hooked that up. Turned battery switch off and on a couple times as well as ignition.. EQ and amps turn on with stereo everytime now.

Summary. Everything works just need to tune the system now.

                      Thanks once again Mike!
