    speaker help?

this is what I bought into with this boat......2005 24V speaker issues and amp.
Clarion head unit with 6 of these CM1632's with tweeters separate ....cones are toasted and cracked
Looks like 4 channel boss amp.....not sure its working....speakers hooked to it are popping at higher volumes SUB/Tower/4 speakers
2 speakers up front in bow work.....hooked to head unit via RCA hook ups
Sub is CM2503....it seems to be ok....not cracked but it pops as well
Towers are kickers.....they seems to be not getting enough power....very low
    SO....????????
WHAT to do.....new amp? I do need new 6" speakers all around....Clarion again to fit holes? and tweet holes?
    Sub seems ok....Kickers as well
    Thanks!

What is your budget? Thats the biggest question. Skies the limit on how much you can spend. It can be anywhere from a couple thousand to ten thousand and beyond.

Having component speakers though it an issue since most marine are based on a coaxial design. I know JL audio has a really nice set of marine grade component speakers. I would buy all new JL speakers, find a nice 5ch amp. Im thinking like a RF punch1000.5 for the cabin speakers and sub. Throw in a new sub of your choice. Upgrade the tower speakers amp to a RF punch 500.2 since those aren't HLCD speakers.

However, it looks like all the component speakers are 7", so you may have to cut larger holes.
You can slo find cheaper/ more expensive components. I would just upgrade the speakers, sub, both amps.

      Ok, lets break this down.

Is that a 2nd amp thats just out of site in that pic of the boss amp? You are going to need a dedicated amp for those Kicker tower pods, preferably and 2 chnl amp. If that is an amp, can you get us some info on what its brand and model is?

With 3 pair of in-boats and a sub, you really need more that a 4 chnl amp. Either a 4 chnl for the in-boats and a dedicated sub (could be a mono or bridged 2 chnl) amp, or a hybrid 5 chnl or a 6 chnl that will do low-pass with 2 chnl bridged.

Next is to evaluate all the gear as best as you can. Physically, you know you need 3 pair new in-boats. Sub seems to be good, but does it play and sound somewhat normal? The tower pods play but act up at higher volume levels? Sounds like an amp or settings issue.

Do you have a spare test speaker laying around that you could wire to each chnl of the boss amp one at a time and just make it play? If not, then use the leads from one of the tower pods, that will work just fine. the main goal is to just make sure all chnls work. odd are, if they work, then amp is fine.

Now you know what has to be replaced. Next, decide on the audio goals so you can see what existing working gear will or wont pass muster in the new system.

Polk DB's come in a component setup, but you would need to double check the mounting specs of the tweeters. other then that, pickins are slim on a quality marine component setup since Kicker retired the KM62502. Another option is to leave the old tweets in place as dummies or put an LED puck in their place and go with a marine coax like the Kicker KM654CW

chpthril...thanks for chiming in! I was hoping. The other item next to the amp is Sirius radio module. Tower speakers have sound but its low but they pulse to the sound. Sub sounds ok but weak. The amp has no setting options...seems like a cheap unit. I will try to test the channels using the tower Pods. Love the idea of using the tweet holes for LED's!. Don't want to use Clarion speakers again. Do you have marine AMP suggestions? 2 unit setup? I use to live in Winston-Salem NC....wish I lived there now...I would just drop it off!!!!...lol. I like the kicker speaker option for replacing the clarion's. Need to figure the power to run this hybrid mess!
