Tower Speakers not working but WS420 Mic does work through tower speakers?

My tower speakers just cut out (no music) but the mic still works on full volume through tower speakers. I also plugged my phone into WS420 to bypass head unit and tower speakers still don't work. This happened last weekend at the lake. The interior speakers and sub work fine. Now, leaving for a 5-day camping and boating trip in two days and no tower speakers.

The entire system was professionally installed when I bough the boat brand new. 09 Z1

it had factory clarion with 4 - 6" wetsounds in interior speakers.

Added JBL 10", 2-PRO60's, WS420 and JL Audio M6600 amp.

Channel 1-2 are for interior speakers-looks to be doubled up wires in output area
    3-4 are for tower speakers
5-6 - looks to be bridged and is for subwoofer.

I traced and checked wires and ws420 and amp and all look to be just fine.

On a side note the 1 front 6" stop working last year and I never looked at it, maybe a loose wire?

Also, I was told amp was powerful enough to add another set of tower speakers. would I just double wires on channel 3-4 to add more tower speakers like channel 1 and 2?

Stupid question but have you checked the Source switch on the 420?

Check the connections at the amp....even though I don't think this is your problem.

Try a new set of RCA's. I thought I blew the Left channel on my old WS420 and it ended up just be a bad set of RCA's.

      Dave,

Is the amp powered up in normal mode? Ill assume it is, so start by swapping the in-boat left and right RCA OUT with the tower left and right RCA OUT at the back of the EQ

If the issue is internal of the EQ, the in-boats wont work and towers will.

if the problem is external of the EQ such as with the RCAs to the tower amp, with the tower amp or the tower speakers themselves, Then the problem will stay. Next step will be to use a 3.5mm x RCA cable and go MP3 direct to the amp and see if they speakers play.

Hate to say it sounds internal of the 420....

I checked the source switch on the WS420. I even plugged my phone into WS420 using 3.5mm plug at Input on WS420 to bypass HU.

So, now just did what chpthril said and yep, tower speakers work and interior speakers do not. Guessing I need a new WS420? chpthril - you sell them? How much? Ship to zip code 17087, no hurry? Is the one I have repairable or should I just get a new one?

I just checked Amazon and saw they now have the "BT", should I upgrade while I am at it? But then using BT, my remote stereo controls won't work, same as now when I use aux input, right?

I did not wire this and haven't messed with boat/car audio in 15 years or more. If I understand this right, it goes - HU - WS - AMP - Speakers, right? So, then my amp should be fine and it is WS?

Possibly repairable, but slow turn-around to do this

The last to check is to make sure the tower knob is not stripped and just spinning on the post

I would consider the WS-420SQ and then add the BTVC to the AUX input to the back of the head-unit.

I checked the knob and it is fine. I have a sneaky suspicion that water got in there. My WS was mounted below the dash on the right hand side but sticking out about 1" from dash. My boat got caught in a rainstorm at the lake last weekend and the interior was pretty wet and it did not work after that. of course, I have been caught in storms before but never had an issue.
