    Multimeters

I'm sure I'm not the only one here, but I don't really know how to use this thing. I bought it a LONG time ago but never ended up needing it & packed it away in the toolbox with many other things of similar usage. I've guessed correctly so far but want certainty here. Anyone mind helping a lost soul?

For reference, currently trying to trace why my subwoofer isn't working (Rev10s are back in business)

disconnect the sub wires from the amp, turn the dial to the horseshoe and touch a lead to each wire. You will likely need to hit the range button a couple times to get to the right scale. Only looking for less that 10 ohm.

The sub out is possibly due to an amp setting.

Channel 5 sits right around 8. Channel 6 sits around 15.5. Bridged Channel 5+ & Channel 6- sits at .03.

      Here's the amp settings.

          Looking at the Syn-6 manual:

#13 needs to be out in order for the 420 to control the sub volume. Push it in and see of the sub works when the in-boat volume on the 420 is turned up.

#7 and #8 both need to be in

#3 should be up a little just to make sure its up enough to make the sub work.

Did you get an ohm reading on the sub circuit?

Yes thats the ohm setting but the meter doesnt look to be auto ranging so you may need to set the scale. I think your boat has a 4 ohm 10fa, so you should get an ohm reading of more than 3 and less then 5 ohm. no K and no M.

Ranges 0.3 to 0.7 video pending with my settings. I don't have enough hands to get the testing also.

Ok, if the woofer measures .3-.7 ohms, either the woofer is shorted or the wires are shorted, but i dont think you measuring the ohms of the woofer. Are you touching the meter leads to the subwoofer wires? Dont need to have the system on or playing music, you're just measuring the woofer.

.3-.7 was at the amp/speaker terminals, no subwoofer wires connected.

Ok, now go to the woofer and take an ohm reading right at the woofer's terminals. At this time, look at the sticker on the back to make sure its a 4 ohm woofer.

So what gets me now & I don't know that it matters, notice 4 wires on the speaker. There's only 2 coming out of the harness into the amp.
