Tower Speakers Cutting Out When Using Aux Input on Wet Sounds 420SQ

I upgraded from a Wet Sounds 420 to a WS 420SQ. Just a plug-n-play job - swapped them out - same wires for inputs, outputs, etc. I love the increased functionality, but I'm having an issue. I noticed my tower speakers cutting out periodically when playing them at higher volume. I'm not sure if it's happening to the in-boat speakers also - I haven't played those as loud. This didn't happen with the prior WS 420.

It seems to only be happening with I play the iPod through the "Aux" input. It hasn't happened when playing the iPod from the head unit through the "Main" input. I have 3 Alpine amps -- one each for the towers, in-boats, and sub. My tower speakers are MB-8's and Pro 60's.

I'd appreciate any thoughts on possible causes and/or any diagnostics I can do to isolate the problem. Thanks.

The WS-420SQ has adjustments for the aux and main. It has a higher output voltage ability that old gen. So it is not a plug and play it in this set up it seems. You need to re adjust the gains on the amps and eq. Start over on the tune. Pull the top cover on the WS-420 SQ and you will see the gains. Follow the set up on our manual on tuning and step by step. See if this helps. You are most likely clipping the input stage on the amp when using the aux input. So backing the gain on the 420 might be all you need to do but doing a fresh tune would be best.
