My amp is mounted inside the locker that's in front of the driver on my 21v. I would need to unmount it to dial in the gains, etc. I don't have any experience with kicker amps so this is probably a really dumb question but how does a Kicker KX700 mount to the wall? Are there screws that go in from the rear? If it's from the rear I need to take the front cushions off to gain access to the mounting bolts so before I start tearing into this I know someone on here has a quick answer to save a brother some time

Kicker Amp Mounting?

The amps mounts with 4 screws, one in each corner, in a similar fashion as any other amp. Now, thats not to say that someone used thru-bolts with nuts or blind nuts, but the 4 screw mounting holes are in the corners of the chassis none the less. Tuning wise, most of the adjustments are on the front. There are a couple of settings on the end panel where the speaker wires are, but you if you look at the manul, you can see what they are and feel around to determine their position. or, use a small inspection mirror.Mikes Liquid Audio: Knowledge Experience Customer Service you can trust-KICKER WetSounds ACME props FlyHigh Custom Ballast Clarion LiquidLumens LEDs Roswell Wave Deflector And More

Jim makes a good point.Depending on its age/generation, Kicker was at one time, offering decorative end caps that covered the wire terminals and the mounting screws. that could be why you are not seeing those mounting screws. Each end cap had two allan screws.

Alright stereo guru's...I definitely need some help...
I finally got under the dash and pulled the amp...apparently, I actually have a KX800.5 and not a 700.5. The front of the amp looks like this:
http://www.amp-shop.net/sites/defaul...%20kx800.5.jpg
I was able to gain access to the wire connections but I'm still not sure on where the gain knobs are at. I might have a bigger problem though...
My tower speakers (for now) are hooked up to the amp1 and amp 2 channels however, I can only get 1 tower speaker to work at a time. Amp 1 only works if I put a slight bit of side pressure on the connector while amp 2 doesn't appear to work at all.
That's issue # 1. Issue #2 is my starboard side rear speaker cracks in and out. I swapped my port/starboard speakers and both speakers work fine on the port side but the starboard side is intermittent at best.
At this point, I'm not sure if my amp is bad or if it's a wiring issue.
If I plan on getting my tower speakers onto a separate amp do you guys think it's worth keeping the 800.5 or should I just pick up 2 new amps?

Yeah, the KX800.5 is a few generations newer, LOL. That amp is pretty new. The bulk of the settings are behind a door, thats on the bottom of the amp, opposite the end with the wire terminals. The same allan tool that is used to secure the wires, is used to loosen the screws holding the door closed.
Its worth getting an amp for the tower speakers, period. Before replacing the 800.5, isolate the issue.
What connector are you placing pressure on, the RCA or the speaker lead?
How many of the RCA inputs are occupied?Mikes Liquid Audio: Knowledge Experience Customer Service you can trust-KICKER WetSounds ACME props FlyHigh Custom Ballast Clarion LiquidLumens LEDs Roswell Wave Deflector And More

Chp,
Your really going to have to dumb it down for me when you talk about the RCA vs the speaker lead.
The connector that I have to place pressure on is the white amp 1 connector in this pic:

Looking at that pic though I'm starting to wonder if my speakers were hooked up right. As they sit right now, I have the black colored connectors in the white inputs on the amp and the red in the red parts however looking at that pic, are the top two suppose to be speaker 1 and the bottom two speaker 2 (like it says in the pick L and R for the top/bottom inputs)?Last edited by BurnMac42; 05-01-2015, 02:39 AM.

After playing around with it a little more..I've realized that the entire right side of the boat speakers aren't playing. I'm beginning to wonder if it's the RCA cables because just to get my sub to work I have to play with the cable just right so it sits on the connection to the amp to get a signal..same goes for my port side tower speaker..
Here is a pic of how the amp looks.. apologize for the rats nest...I'm going to eventually clean all that up seeing as how I think the dealership who sold the boat just connected everything any which way possible to get all the speakers working again...

I know it isn't an ideal situation but until I get a second amp to drive the tower speakers how would you guys recommend I hook up the speakers to the amp? Hi pass/low pass, etc?Last edited by BurnMac42; 05-01-2015, 04:36 PM.

Holy smokes, i see what looks to be some big time settings issues there. Can you email me those pics in their full file size? I need to take a better look.

Lets start with fixing the initial issue, which i think in one of the RCA cables. More later, i gotta get back on this 22 Sea Pro.Mikes Liquid Audio: Knowledge Experience Customer Service you can trust-KICKER WetSounds ACME props FlyHigh Custom Ballast Clarion LiquidLumens LEDs Roswell Wave Deflector And More

Doesn't look like the right side is hooked up as I only see Amp one with wires... Gains are maxed out, that's bad.. Full pass is bad, needs to be on High pass... Inboats usually run 90-120 hz... Your ear will tell you... X1 is correct on all.... Subs gains maxed, that's bad... Crossover is kinda ok... RCAS look low grade and need replaced ASAP....
