I have an IPhone 5; good point about the transmitter, may be out of date.

Sound quality wise I don't notice that it changes much as I get further away from the head unit. I also did not feel the sound quality improved much when I went to an aux cord. I am a bit disappointed with the stereo all together, even built a sub box with the suggested volume for the FA 10. I feel like my $40 vega sub with 155 wts in my moomba made more bass.

I will look closer at the under dash mount kit then. You make a good point in the flexibility it provides. I think I will also try a newer phone connected to BT to see if that helps with SQ.

    Thanks man.
Check a different phones. We are android peeps and have seen a difference between the phones and devices we use in both range and SQ. For better SQ, make sure tour phones EQ is off or flat. I have seen some iphone specific comments regarding poor range.

RE the sub: Honestly, I would ditch the small sealed enclosure (i know, its what the website says) and go back to IB. Then, rewire and reconfigure the sub. I can share more on that later, maybe out of this thread. Also, are you aware that there is a sub volume control knob under the dash below the steering wheel?

I have an Iphone 5 and when blue toothed to my 15 TT I can get somewhere around 100ft away and possibly more and the quality is fine. I know I can use the BT when boat is in the garage with doors closed and I can go in my backyard and don't lose any quality even through several walls. I wonder if its not the WS controller and not the phone giving issues? I don't have the WS controller in my boat as I'm happy with the BT capabilities of the new TT.

The WS BT is not the unit in question, but rather the medallion bT, which is proven to be poor SQ.

Ryan- thanks. I thought it turned out well. It was really easy for me...write a check. I have a buddy that does custom installations professionally and he did the install. I don't recall how he mounted it in the back (I don't have that boat any longer) but I do recall that he added some padding behind the dash vinyl to keep a nice even look around the 420. Considering your dash is different, I would agree with Chpthril that the underdash mount from WS would probably be your best option and would look quite nice. This was not an option at the time we had ours installed. Originally we were going to have a custom fiberglass pod made and wrapped with the factory vinyl, however Jason reviewed the install we choose and it was considerably cheaper than a custom pod. I really believe you would be happy with the quality and appearance of the WS mount for the 420EQ.

Agree with Chpthril on this. The Medallion bT is the unit with TigeTouch (original). JLG has TigeTouch2 which is a different beast all together. To say that the Medallion bT was marginal would be a complement to the unit.

I should probably be reading through other posts that are already out there, but from what I read the Medalion is responsible for the BT connection in my stock 2013 z3? I just assumed it was the Clarion unit that did the work. I think I will plan to purchase the SQ with the separate BT controller.

The mount that Chpthril suggested in the post of the ASR - amazing install BTW- does look much better installed then it does in the picture of the mount by itself. Just have to get approval from corporate...

Did my install myself, also note the extra thump thump from that extra 10" sub! lol...
It wasn't too bad, just gotta take your time, measure twice, cut once!
