    05 22v Audio upgrade Advice

The Sound equipment in the 05 22v I just bought is in need of some upgrading. I have an idea of what i'ld like to have but recommendations and opinions are always welcomed as well.

    Currently:

    Clarion - CMD4 Head Unit
    2 Sound Design Amps
    L1660d - 1ch 600w
    L424D - 4ch 240w
6 - Kicker Component Speakers (bow and aft)
    2 - Kicker Tower
1 10 inch Kicker CVR Sub

    Upgrading to:

    Clarion CMD6 w/ wired remotes
    Fusion Amp MS-DA51600
    2 Bow Speakers - Alpine SPR-m70
    4 Aft Speaker - Alpine SPR-m70
    ? Sub
    ? Tower Speakers
    ? Second Amp

Thought was to have Fusion Amp run
    4 - Aft Speakers and 1 - Sub

Head Unit run 2 Bow Speakers

Existing 4 ch soundstream run tower for now

    Any Thoughts?

    Thanks

Talk to Mike. He'll get you set up. Tower speakers: 2 wetsounds rev10's. You won't be disappointed.

For a little more money you can upgrade to the CMD8 which has Pandora, nicer remotes, and a few more capabilities. Although you will need the newer MW1 remotes, you can find the package deal around $500 and it will be plug and play. Probably wouldn't run any speakers off the HU and would do at least a set of Rev8 or Rev10 for tower depending on how loud you want to go and power them with a WS amp.

I believe the 6 and 8 use the same remotes, also the 6 has front, rear and sub outputs while the 8 doesn't. I am getting the auxiliary and usb hookups so pandora won't be an issue. Reception on my lake is terrible besides. I'll look into the revs 10....any suggestions for the sub

          Tundra,

Have you measured to see of those M700's will fit? They are 7-23/32" dia. Thats larger than the Kicker KM8, which I measured for fitment last time MHammonds 22V was in the shop.......they wont fit in the OEM spots.

What Kicker components is in that boat?

A 5 chnl will drive the 3 pair of in-boats, so no need to have a pair driven by the head-unit.

Yes, 2nd amp that dedicated to your tower speakers. Do you want a surf/party cove, wake range or both type of tower setup?

Sub - either way, you should enclose it in a box to improve the sound quality. The current Kicker 10 cvr is a 4 ohm dvc, so it will be a 2 ohm load. it would handle a good 500W. Going up to a 12 will automatically get you more output, even at the same amp wattage.

After looking into the sizes of my existing speakers you were correct that they are not the same size of the Alpine m70's which is unfortunate. But while listening to the system and isolating the speakers from the tower setup, I feel the existing speakers are okay for now. But the tower speakers which are a Kicker K6.2 4ohm component sound very muffled and not good. I'd like to update with the best bang for my dollar without spending too much. My existing 4 channel amp is pretty loaded with existing setup, so I can only imagine upgrading to a larger 5 channel will be better in the end.

Any recommendations or help is greatly appreciated.....Always

If the tower speakers sound muffled or flat, sounds like the tweeters are not working. With the system playing, use a folded towel to block the woofer and listen to the tweeter on each pod.

Down side, there are no marine plug n play replacements for that setup. Its kinda a hybrid using the 6.0" ks with the 1" tweeter that would have come with the 6.5 KS. SO not any options that will fit that pod.

Depending on how soon you are looking to upgrade the towers, there may be an option for the new Kicker KM8's in Kicker pods.

I think the KM8's would fit the front locations, but not the rear. Either way, you might be left with the tweeter holes, unless you went with the KSS65. Some have gone with a coaxial 6.5 and an LED to fill the tweeter hole.

The boat is long term and any updates can happen over time....so yeah i can wait

The KM-8 is out, but I hear that a Kicker tower pod for the KM-8 is in the works, thats all I can say at this point.
