    2015 Z3 subwoofer install

Here are some pics of my 15 Z3 stereo build. I have spent a lot of time researching and have built the system in my head using a lot of ideas from other TO posts so thanks for posting them. Although I have built the systems in my last 2 boats I decided to let Scream Marine in dallas texas do this system as they have a great reputation of building killer one off systems. Tim and his crew did just this with my boat and can't thank them enough for the killer super clean install! I had them install 2-12'SSX series treo subs which are capable of 2000w RMS ea and a treo 3000.1SSX amp which will provide 1500w per sub and most likely more as treo underrates these amps output by as much as 600 watts I've heard. The 1.6 cu ft boxes are made out of birch wood and are bed liner coated and mounted on a plastic resin material to prevent water from getting on them on the floor.
I also had to add 2 dry cell AGM type batteries and they put them on the rear starboard side behind the locker. They did a lot of tweaking to the already installed WS amps and speakers and this thing hammers now!! I have some led lights to install around the locker vent and other areas of the boat and will post pics later. Sorry for the flipping of pics but hope the pics help as I rely on other members posts for my ideas. Last pic is of the factory in Abilene as we were within 3hr of it so drove over and toured and the hospitality at the factory was A++++. More on that later

I love how they vented the locker. Excellent work. 3000 watts for subwoofers is insane!

it doesn't light up yet. I am in the process of putting an RGB controller with RGB lights throughout the boat and will post pics when I get it installed.

X2 on that, they normally do a straight line type vent and I asked them to do the z3 or tige symbol in it and they came through. The system came out exactly like I asked them to do it. Can't say enough about how excellent they are at scream marine!!

I suppose I could cut up one of my wifes cutting boards and make GW one if the price were right

CHP- what are you doing for your rgb rings for the 6.5s you install? Do you use the WS rings or make your own and if so can you explain the process or what do you charge for the rings? Also the controller is using a pos off the tower what are you using for ground? Is it ok to use a ground off of the amps or will it cause interference? I have the pos found which is a PITA to get to and ran a wire around on mine so it toggles on with the speaker rings just need a ground and don't want to tag off anything if it will make interference.

I have used the Wet Sounds rings. With their cast poured rings, you get a phenomenal light effect. For other speakers, I do cut my own custom LED rings.

Ground will depend where I locate the controller. I will seek out the closest B+ and B- BUS bar for the controller.

For the controller I had to run a + wire from starboard to port side where they run up the tower to rev10 speakers and the neg I wanted to be sure that it didn't cause interference if I were to steal from the amp ground as it will be mounted next to the amps.

Been researching a bit and it seems a tossup on cost if I were to make or buy the rings.

Whatever you do, don't buy the rings from http://www.bulletlines.com/

I bought some for Pro-60's and 650's, and neither of the rings fit well. They try and make rings that work with as many speakers as possible, and ultimately fail at fitting anything well.

I'd find someone with a CNC machine, and have them cut some to your exact specs.

I cut my own rings and made them slightly larger, and then used a quarter round router bit on them, and then spent a TON of time trying to rough sand them to give them the 'frosted' effect to diffuse the light.

In the end, I wasn't a fan of any of them. I'll definitely pony up for the wetsounds rings this time around!!!

Oh yeah, if you could post some more pics of your driver side subwoofer install, I'd appreciate it!

Been trying to decide between Scream Marine and Earmark to do my install.

In all my previous boats, I've always done all this work myself. But with my boat being so new, I really want to leave that install to the Pro's!!
