While at the factory, they were doing some R&D on how to modify the front weight setup, looks like that is what they came up with. I'm sure changing the marketing material is expensive and if the 3000 lbs is still accurate, does it really matter what the picture looks like? Nice work BTW, can't wait to see the finished product!

6 hours later and a $20 1/2 x 12 inch drill bit from Lowes (that didnt help any way), I finally get the STBD wires fished through the tower base and the speakers put back together.

Back to the ballast topic. Behind the walls in the rear lockers, is where the "XL" surf ballast sacs are housed. They are a narrow "L" shaped sac and run about 50" toward the front.

Some other pros about the boat so far. The in-boat speakers have .375" backing rings behind the plastic coaming pads for the screws to secure to. This adds some rigidity as well.

Man, that's a lot of work to upgrade! Thanks for the pics, love seeing what's going on behind the scenes in the boats.

This has been a slow going project, given how very few new pieces of audio gear we are putting in. It will be a near complete makeover, even though the in-boats and 2 original amps are staying in. It was nice to find adequate wire gauge for the in-boats and sub, but was rear surprised to find 16ga in the tower. Tige needs to spend a couple extra bucks per boat, and pre-wire with 12ga if they are going to continue to offer a premium tower package with serious wattage to it.

I finally got a rough measure on the OEM sub cavity. Seems to be in the 1.8 ft3 range net volume. If the boat does not have a factory heater, you could easily do a Euro port.

Got the enclosure for the 2nd woofer roughed out and test fit. Hope to have it ready to spray on Sat, if the weather clears up.

Chp funny you say that about the wiring package for the towers as the guys at scream marine said the same thing yesterday when they saw my 15 z3 still using 16 ga in the tower to power 2 pair of rev10. They said the same thing about wanting to move my towers over to 12ga, but at what cost is my only holdup. Im sure I would gain a bit over the smaller wire but not sure I want to pay them or any stereo shop to upgrade it so yea I wish it were a "standard" at the factory to have a bigger gauge wire. After seeing the trouble you had with the rewiring of the tower legs there is no way I want to pay a stereo shop to do it!

The post side took no time as the holes all lined up through the tower base, deck and backing plate. If the holes in the STBD side had lined up, it would not have been too bad of a job, even though the 4 pairs for all the tower lights made it snug. I would also like to see Tige go to an LED bulb for the forward firing tower lights. That way, they could wire them in parallel, and get it down to 3 pairs through that STBD leg.

Pretty sure this was already in the works a few months back? Have to keep an eye out to see when they start rolling out with them!

Amp wall and amps back in and all wired up. Should have it powered up tomorrow for some preliminary tuning.

Quick note, bilge pumps (yes, 2) are wired to the boat side of the main switch and not the battery side. Dont ask how i discovered this

Sorry for the delay in bringing this build full circle.

Kicker SUb with RGB ring in the factory spot. After initial testing, we added some block and brought the internal volume down quite a bit. This improved the woofers response.

Boat show people asked the dealer 2-3 times to turn it down

Looks good! Love the color of the ASR.
Chpthril, what did you spray the enclosure with, what did you use for the 2 enclosure stops (or feet) to keep it in place, and where is the best place to get RGB ring for WS XS12 as I don't see them on WS website.
                              Thanx

Thanks for the compliment. After coating inside and out with 2-part resin, I use a spray-on bed liner as a cosmetic coating. The black blocks are 3/4" thick HDPE sheet that I cut out and fab'd. We make our acrylic LED rings for the XS-12
