CHP will chime in but without the proper battery power that capacitor does no good and will put more strain on the system if no ample batteries. I'd say to have proper battery power available and do away with the capacitor.

Toss it and dont look back! Seriously! In all the years doing this in boats, I have never seen a need for a CAP. The better way to go is more battery AH, which is what a CAP is a short term solution for any way. By short term, i mean short term as in milliseconds. In a boat or other weekend toy, they are actually a liability to the batteries. They will bleed down the batteries and then need charged back up.

I am 90% complete with the sound system and here is the nearly finished product. I still need to build my sub enclosure.

Mounted the Rev10's to the same location at the previous tower speakers.

          IMG_0592.jpg

Attached wood blocks with 3M 5200 for the AMP rack.
Kept the JBL CS60.4 for the 6 XS650S in boat - may replace with another SYN4 one day
Kept the Sony XMZZR3301 for the Sub
Added Wetsounds SYN4 for the REV10s

          IMG_0614.jpgIMG_0643.jpg

Added 1 pair of XS650S - Port at the cooler location, Starbord aft

          IMG_0701.jpgIMG_0700.jpg

          Added an onboard charger

          IMG_0699.jpg

Also added the Kicker ZXMRLC to control the tower volume
Need to tidy up the wires and mount the Tower volume control.
          Can't wait to get out!!!
          The system sounds great.

I have a strange question. Has anyone smelled a strange smell from new Rev10 speakers? I would not exactly describe it as electrical burning, but maybe some electrical heating. I can smell this only when playing the tower speakers and they do not need to be playing very loud. Not really any different when loud. I can smell it from more than 10 feet away.

Need to make sure the amp is set to hi-pass and the cross-over frequency is not too low. Recheck the gain level.

What did you do with the samson tower speakers? I'm interested in them if you still have them.

Got the boat out yesterday for the first time this year - Sounds great!
Here are the new tower speakers with the tower raised - already thinking that a second pair would look great - maybe next year.

Here is the sub enclosure - 14"x18"x10" and just fits! (the installation is not final yet - need a clean trim cover on the front.)
Cutting the opening is a traumatic experience! I must say an oscillating saw is the perfect tool for this job.

thanks to everyone on this board for the support and input. Especially Chpthril!

                    Thanks for the response -

                    gains are set around ~40%
set to Hi Pass with crossover ~80Hz

Did you get rid of the old Focal cans/connections? I'm looking to buy a pair. Thanks, Rich
