    Not quite a boat...but it will tow one! Aftermarket amps/speakers on a King Ranch HU?

    I am thinking of ordering up a new truck to replace my ’01 PSD and by the end of summer will probably get a F-350 King Ranch (or be out of business due to lack of cash flow!!!)

    Anyway, what I have found in the last several years is that the factory head units/Nav systems/Hands Free systems have better functionality than the aftermarket units including Kenwood, Pioneer and Alpine.

    I would like to keep the factory HU/Nav system/Hands Free and dump everything else past the factory HU. It seems that the factory HUs still don’t use RCA outputs, so my question (finally!) is;
    • Can I hook up some aftermarket amps (JL Audio, ARC etc) using line level inputs and expect good performance? I would be replacing all of the speakers and building a sub box.

      Most any amp out there will allow you to signal the amp, and have it even turn on, using the OEM head-unit's speaker level outputs into the amp.

        Any issues with the sound quality? Or any reason not to?
