Can you keep the stock battery in the stock location & add the stereo battery near the amp rack? Or is that a bad idea?

Not a bad idea, but there are pro's and cons to each location.Mikes Liquid Audio: Knowledge Experience Customer Service you can trust-KICKER WetSounds ACME props FlyHigh Custom Ballast Clarion LiquidLumens LEDs Roswell Wave Deflector And More

I have dual batteries in the back. I added a 3rd up in the front where the amp rack is. it was easier than trying to shoehorn one in the back where the taps pump is and then running stereo cabling up front.
it has worked fine for the season I had it installed.2012 22ve.. RIP 4/17

Without knowing the specifics of the dual-battery bank you are going to do, its hard to get detailed. If you are doing a complete stand-alone hose bank, thats easy, you just need to have enough amp hours to last the day and a charger large enough to replenish the bank.
If you want the house bank tied to the alternator, you need to have cable thats sufficient enough to carry the load of the alternator to the bank.
If you want to have a dual-battery switch and use the house bank as a backup cranking battery, you then multiple large gauge cable runs from the switch to the amps and house battery bank.Mikes Liquid Audio: Knowledge Experience Customer Service you can trust-KICKER WetSounds ACME props FlyHigh Custom Ballast Clarion LiquidLumens LEDs Roswell Wave Deflector And More
