2013 Z1: Need input of subs...

So although I would kill to have a nice under hull box built with a 10 or 12 in it I am far from handy enough to ever be able to put it together and have it come out looking as clean and factory as all the others here.... So I started looking for other alternatives and found these two: What do you all think.... obviously I would not be putting them under the hull that would look like crap but under one of the compartments or something...... any advice, input, experiences, etc would be much appreciated. Also.... if anyone reading this is willing/knows how to build the box I am looking for and wants to make some cash let me know.

$599 for that wetsounds sub is a great price. 10" sub with a fiberglass box, AND a 500watt amp is crazy. I paid $1000 for the same setup in my house. Now how to fit that in your boat is another matter. Custom would be ideal. I'll likely be tackling this project in my future too.

Thanks for reply johnnieMo, I was thinking the price on the wetsound was really fair too. I was thinking it would fit somewhere in one of the storage compartments or maybe behind the false wall under the helm? Going to get measurements tomorrow morning and see what I come up with.

I just got done on a massive build on my boat but you may want to measure out that box to see if it would fit under the driver helm I put 2-xxx12 in mine and the boxes are so big I had to move the electronics up and remount the heater as well but in any case it's a great deal I don't know how they sound I've never heard them, try reaching out to chpthril he's awesome at this stuff.

The HT AS-10 is a great package, as well as the JL. Closing a woofer up in an insulated locker is like cutting its amp power in half. You also lose all its musical output and it becomes a boat shaker. So I would consider that route as a last resort for a sub option.

Have you considered the Wet Sounds XS-10FA 10" sub? Its designed to be an infinite-baffle woofer, so you do not need to build an enclosure for it. All you need is a solid bulkhead wall that lends 100% front rear isolation. Most Tige boats offer this, so they are ideal for a IB install. Feed it with a solid 400W rms.

chpthril, thank you for the reply. Never heard of an IB sub before until you mentioned it. So to better understand, I can buy the XS-10FA sub and a 400W rms amp and just cut right into the factory wall in the helm and intall the sub right in. No box, no anything. Simply cut out the hole, and pop it in and wire it up? Almost sounds too good to be true? Sound is good? I noticed a lot of people have the set up I posted below... is that all this is with an added speaker on the right? I am very new to the whole audio thing so all info would be great, really would love if I was able to cut right into the factory wall under the helm, pop in this sub and one more speaker and just wire it up. Thanks again in advance.

              Sick,

In a Tige, yes, its about that simple. The boat is even pre-wired for the sub and IIRC, its brown and wires, just have to dig them out of the black loom.

Although I like a sub with an enclosure best, a properly done IB will be far better then the best sub closed in an insulated locker. That pic is the exact factory setup, so the grill will also match your current wet sounds speakers. You might even find that the wall is perforated under the carpet. This makes it even easier as all you have to do is find the perfs and connect them with a jig saw and the hole is cut. But, on your model, you will likely need to cut an additional hole behind the sub in order to open up into the main storage locker in front of the helm. That first wall has a very small cavity directly behind it. If you search a little here, there are a couple of threads regarding this extra cut.
