z3 Sub install. 12" sub upgrade

Finally got the sub install done. If anyone is in the cincinnati area, this guy does amazing work.

Here are some pics.

He cut out the existing wall where the 10" sub was


He then built a ported box for my XS12. Didn't have to move the electronics at all


He then rebuilt the front pannel. Looks factory as can be.

Wow. I didn't think there was enough room in there for a ported box. Does it affect your ballast capacity at all?

looks great did you have to move your electronics and wireing for the boat up? I did 2-xxx 12 in my rz2 and that's what we had to do ours turned out great as well great job looks great

no he did not have to move the electronics. He cut right underneath it. no it doesn't affect the ballast at all. IT takes up the space underneath the shelf that's in front of the helm. So if you open up the cushion in the bow, there is a shelf there. Under the shelf is all open. In front of that is where the ballast starts. I think its where the heater goes if you have one. I do not have a heater in my boat.

I think you may be right. Mine has heater vents coming out of there. I'll have to investigate when the snow melts.

Mine does indeed have a heater there. It's possible things could be moved around to fit an enclosure but extending the heated water lines would be the hard part. It would also require moving the electronics at least slightly.

I've been looking at doing exactly this install but my boat has a structural 'stringer' right where the old wall used to be. It is about 4" tall, 3/4" thick, extending up from the bottom.

I can't understand why yours isn't there. Or worse.... did he hack it out of there?

no he just cut out the wall. nothing else was there. It does drop down where the false floor ends.. but no stringer. those are all under the floor.

I can maybe have my dealer send me a few when the boat goes in this winter unfortunatly I'm gone for the entire winter and the boat is 1000miles away from me, as soon as I get some il post them up, it may be a little while
