Are those the M or MX series and are they the 6.5, 7.7 or 8.8?

Awesome speakers! Make sure you give them at least 100watts rms if not 150 and they will blow you away.

When are they going to get those in tower speakers? That would make a great surf speaker!

Word on the street is that JL is toying with a pod. But its gonna have to big in order to achieve the mid-bass that this speaker is capable of as an IB in-boat speaker. If the pod volume is too small, the mid-bass will suffer and you lose the size advantage.

yes, they would make a great surf speaker, but have you heard the Wet Sounds Rev-10?

Yeah the rev10s are sweet but pricy! I was thinking more in the Icon8 price range for those of us who don't need the distance of the rev8/10. I love the sound quality of the JL M 7.7s but an 8.8 would be even better

I would not hold my breath on a JL 8.8 in a tower pod being budget friendly In all seriousness, the Icon-8 is a great speaker. Im pushing a pair with 240W rms to each @ 55 hz.

So what is the sound quality difference between the JL 7.7 tower speakers and the icon8s with the same power?

Are the Icon's really the old Pro 80's or do they still sell those as Pro 80's?

Pro80s are entirely out of production. The Rev-8 replaced it, but is now in a pod thats close in size to the old Pro60. The Rev-10 is in a pod that is close in size to the old pro-80 pod. No similarities, other then the Rev's are still pro-axial HLCD's.

The Icon-8 is a cousin to the XS-808 in-boat speaker. Its an 8" 2-way coaxial in a tower pod. The pod is the same pod used for the Rev-8.
