What's the deal with Wetsound's Amps?

My Syn 2 blows the 60A line fuse at turn on. One week later, my Syn 6 has the following blink code; 1 red blink-pause-5 red blinks! Both amps dead one week apart. Happy that my 2011 RZR has 360 coverage. Anyone else having problems with their amps??

Sounds like water intrusion to be honest. Has there been any service work performed that would have involved disconnecting and reconnecting the battery(s)? The owners manual for Syn-6 will tell you what the code is indicating.

For the Syn-2, Inspect the power cable connections close to make sure there are no stray wire strands that may be causing that main fuse to blow. Are the amps chassis mounted fuses blowing? Try disconnecting all the speakers and then power it up and see if the fuse blows. Unfortunately, I feel it will.

No water on the amp's or in the compartment. I store my boat in my garage. Plus, the boards in the Syn. series of amp's are coated to withstand wet environments. The batteries were disconnected when the boat was winterized/sumerized by my dealer. Everything worked when I picked the boat up.

No shorts found on the positive cable (I even measured it to the return line). I measured each speaker, all OK (each measured approx. 4 Ohms). The chassis fuses are fine on both amp's. My guess is that the FET on the output stage of the Syn2 amp is shorted. I have no idea what the DC error flash code actually means on the Syn6. In either case, both amp's need to be replaced.

Thank you for your thoughts on this.

A marine grade electrical component with a conformal-coated PCB does not mean waterproof. Water and/or heavy condensation can and will conduct across circuits and create a short. This may not even happen on the day the water first was introduced.

          Blerb,
Simon @ Wet Sounds here. Give us a call at the office to discuss your options. We will work with you to find out the cause of this. Having two amps go down so close of each other is very odd and I really don't think its a co-incidence.

I look forward to hearing from you!
