    help hooking up second amp

I picked up a Kicker ZXM 700.5 during the offseason to run a second set of tower speakers. It's like french to me trying to hook it up.

    Questions>

Can I hook up the +/- of the new amp to the same +/- wires as the stock wet sounds (ie splice in')?

Any way to bridge the 2 amps together?

There's an unused fat white RCA input cable coming out of the bottom of the Wetsounds amp....its just stuck in the harness but is not hooked up. Anyway I can utilize it? Also a thin white wire that's doing the same..nothing..it's plugged into the left side of rear of the Clarion

Also there a couple pairs of RCA's coming out the back of the head unit. We use one for our Ipods and Serius radio. There other one could be used with the new amp?

These questions might seem wetodded' but it's been a looong time since I hooked up stereo system. I want it work the first time

*Also any tips on threading the new wires thru' the tower would be nice. I know you have to 'tilt' the tower but any tricks to getting past that point?

No! That amp needs its own dedicated B+, GND and circuit protection directly from the battery. Minimum 4ga cabling and a 100A fuse or breaker. I prefer a marine manual-reset breaker.

No, but what would be trying to accomplish?

That white RCA cable is a "Marine Audio" brand RCA that would have been used from the factory.
The Clarion head-unit has 3 RCA output chnls: Front (gray leads), rear (black leads), and non-fade (purple leads). If any of these are unused, they can be used for your new amp. The ZXM only needs a single set of RCA's to drive all 5 chnls. The current Wet Sounds amp is not stock, so depending on which model, what its driving, it may only require 1 set of RCA's or 3.
There will be a single set of AUX in-put RCA's, these have red leads. If its a Clarion SAT, it uses a Clarion specific data cable that connects to the Clarion C-Net port.

Depends on the tower style, but I use an electricians fish tape.

your right CT'... there's 3 sets of RCA's out the back of the head unit. 1 is unused. Should the 'amp 1 or 2' input from the XZM700 go to this RCA? That would make it oh so simple to hook up.

I can of course run dedicated 4 gauge +/- leads up to the batt' with the 100 amp fuse/reset breaker. No problem there. I was just trying to be mickey mouse and lazy doh...

Your saying the thin gauge white wire is a data cable?

"AMP-1" RCA's for the ZXM and all chnls will play

Not sure what the thin white wire is, but SAT uses a data plug, not RCA. Could be antenna.

the end of the white wire is a loop like it's supposed to mount somewhere.

The RCA out the bottom of the amp that goes nowhere.... Should that be hooked up somewhere? Maybe to my brain?

Without a pick, I cant say much about the white wire, sorry. But I wouldnt connect it until you trace it back to its source and know what it is.

Wet Sounds amps do not have any white RCA's, or any other cables or wires, that come out of them, so my guess is that its the left over OEM install and the Wet Sounds amp is just installed over it where the cable is taped or tied. The HT series amps have blue RCA pigtails, no actual wires.

Do I need to hook up the 'remote' terminal on the new amp? The other amp has a lead on that

The small center terminal between the amp's B+ and B- is the remote turn on signal. This needs to be hooked to the head-units blue/white turn-on output wire.

OK now I'm confused again. I got it totally wired..but nothing. The CLARION MARINE head unit has 3 sets of RCA's. The black one says sub output. We're using the red one for the ipod or Serius Radio. We got the new amp hooked up to the grey set of RCA's.

Question: Does it matter if were using AMP 1 or AMP 2 on the new amp?

Anyway we've got no sound out of the new amp/speakers. We got all the power..I used a big *** 4 gauge wire with the right 100 amp fuse.

BTW our head unit has no purple wires on the back.. Does this mean we have a different Clarion marine unit??

No, as long as its an output, not an AUX input. The RCAs with the gray leads are front and the black leads are rear. Use which even set is open

Sounds like your 05 has the XMD series if its still the original.

                              looks original.

today I'm switching out the wimpy speaker wire I used.
It's just to small of a gauge.... we were unable to use the yellow connectors that came with the amp...doh...just stripped the wires and stuck them in there
