    2011 RZ2 Stereo Upgrade

I am upgrading my 11' RZ2 stereo. It came with the base level stereo package. It has 4 in-boat speakers and a pair of pro60's on the tower. I believe the 60's were added and are not from the factory. Here is a list of item's i am planning to upgrade:
    • Add 2 more speakers in the cabin (Ws-65)
    • Add a pair of WS MB8 to the tower
    • Replace sub with 12" eclipse in vented enclosure
    • Add WS HT-6 (new), and MTX TC4001 (One i've had and am reusing)

First off I relocated the Pro60's on the tower to the further inboard mounting locations, then i painted and bolted up the MB8's (WS only has white MB8's left). I did some looking around at this stage and discovered that all 4 speakers are wired independently. I was anticipating the wires to be spliced inside the tower from other forums i've read.

Then i removed the old MTX marine sub and installed a 12" Eclipse Sub

Started building my amp rack/wall. Just waiting on a few parts that have been ordered and I'll get this finished soon! Amps are on 1/2" spacers so all wires will be hidden underneath.

I'll post more pictures when as i get items wrapped up. If anybody has any input or thoughts please share them. I am a contractor not a stereo installer! lol.

Also a huge thank you to Mike @ Mikes's Liquid Audio (chpthril). He has been a great help and a pleasure to deal with.

      Thank you!

The rest of the cabling i ordered showed up last night so i was able to get back to work on it. I finished all of the pre-wiring of the amp rack that i could. The rest will just be making connections in the boat and tuning the amps. I will take more pictures tonight.

I also installed some Green LED's throughout the boat for ambiance!

            Looks awesome kasey!

I was wondering if that Rockford Fosgate amp is marine grade? And is it necessary to have a marine grade amp at all?

Also, i was considering putting a sub under the driver seat as I think that i desperately need the storage up front (where your box for your sub is). Any thoughts?

              Riley,
Neither the RF amp, nor the MTX amp are marine amplifiers. I don't know how imperative it is that they be marine grade. My boat is stored in the garage and i open the seats so everything is able to dry out and ventilate. I would assume that as long as they don't get wet, and you do what you can to reduce humidity they should be okay. That being said, the only reason i used the two non-marine grade amps is because i already had them. If i were to purchase new amplifiers i would buy marine grade for precautionary measures.
The sub under the helm is the most common location in these boats. The box on the back side of the wall does chow up a bunch of storage however. I still use this space to store a bunch of life jackets though.

Sweet upgrades, nice job on the amp wall.

A pair of MB8s are a great addition to a pair of Pros. For anyone making a similar upgrade, I have a pair of MB8s for sale.

Great looking install. Did you use spacers on the amp board to the boat wall so that the wiring would fit? How did you mount that?
