It has been that way on previous Tige models, but I can not confirm on the R20/RZR models.

What model Rockford 10"? Based on its T/S parameters, it may be best suited for a sealed or vented or it might fall in the middle and do well in either. Now, a sealed is by far the easier and most forgiving enclosure to do. Most subs, regardless of their T/S parameters, will do fine in a sealed, as long as you are in the neighborhood of the manufacturers rec volume. With a vented enclosure, you need to be pretty dead on with the enclosures net volume, port sq area and length, or it will not sound good and may end up being a one note wonder. Also, I would take the amp into account before deciding on an enclosure. Its output, whether it has a fixed or adjustable infrasonic filter (aka subsonic) can come into play when doing a vented.

The sub is a: Rockford Fosgate, 10" M210S4B

Powered by a: Rockford Fosgate M750-1D amp

Right now it's in a sealed box, in the enclosed port side locker under the glove box. Don't get me wrong, it thumps the boat but I am looking for a little more sound quality over just shaking things up. I would like the tight bass as opposed to muddy rumbling. (clearly these are audiophile terms! lol) From your suggestions it should be placed in the vertical wall under the helm, or at the very least in the starboard locker behind the driver seat which has an opening under the driver seat so isn't sealed?

Based on that sub's Fs and Qes, it goes both ways, so sticking with a sealed enclosure is perfect, but relocating it will make the difference. Having it radiate directly out into the main cabin will improve the soud quality and output. Using .75" material, an enclosure with gross external volume of 1.3 ft3 will be spot on.

I can't thank everyone enough for all of the help. Especially Mike! I have asked soooo many beginner questions, yet everyone has been so patient and helpful. I hope that I can someday pay it back, or at least pay it forward.
