Is there an Amp on 2003's?

I have a 2003 24ve. I brought it into a dealership the other day (was not a Tige dealership since too far away). They searched for awhile and said there is no amp on my boat. We have maybe 6 speakers and a sub. They sound pretty good and have no complaints on the quality. Do any of you know if this year range put amps on the boat and if so where they are? Also, we do have 2 twin tower speakers we will be mounting. Any suggestions on set ups with amps once you put them up? Do you want a separate amp running the speakers, a separate amp for the sub, and a separate amp for the tower speakers. Trying to be cost effective.

I beleive your 03 could have rolled out of the factory with 4 Clarion in-boats powered off the head-unit. If it had 6 from the factory, I would expect it to have an amp as the only way to power 6 of a head unit is to wire 2 pair in series on 2 of the head-unit speaker chnls. This puts the net output to them at about 7 watts.

I do not know if a sub was a factory option back then, so maybe someone with an older model can chime in, but IF it has a sub, it should have an amp.

With 6 in-boats, a sub and a pair of tower speakers, you will need two amps minimum. As noted above, if your boat has a sub and it works, it has to have an amp driving it. Theres a good chance its a 4 chnl amp that is also driving 2 pair of the in-boats. If you can provide details on the current gear you have, including the amp that cant be found I could make some suggestions on what kind of power you would need and how to configure it.

Oh, and if your boat is a 2003, its a "V". the "Ve" wasnt released until 06. If in doubt of the exact year, look at the hull ID, the last two digits are the year model.

My 2003 came with 3 sets of in boats (clarion) a 10 inch sub (clarion) and a set of tower speakers(Mb Quartz) driven by 2 amps (clarion). The amps are located same as the newer boats wich is under the glove box on the right hand wall when looking in the storage area. If you dont have amps and are going to add them as suggested I would also factor in a second battery if you dont already have 2. Good luck.

My 03 22v limited has 6 speakers no sub and a 2 channel amp powering 4 speakers in 2 off each channel in parallel and the front 2 in the bow are powered off the head unit. All factory clarion xmd1 head unit, clarion amp and speakers. I bought the boat from the original owner he never modified any thing on the boat. I did build the iPod input that plugs into the 13 pin connector works great.

Are your amps also under the glove box on the passenger side compartment?

Thanks. Yes you are right it is a V. I am really confused on the amps. The compartment underneath the glove box, there is no amps. I couldn't find them in the compartment under the steering wheel either. Could a sub possibly be running with no amp? It works and have heard the bass coming out of it. If it could work with no amp, I assume it is not good on the sub? The boat is in storage, but I will go check sometime to see the wattage on everything. The sub is in the compartment under the steering wheel. I will also double check that the amp is not on the far side of the sub where I can't see. Any other ideas where an amp could be hiding?

Do you have the dual battery set up? My old 8 gauge power wire powering the stock amps came out of the port side compartment next to the rear stadium bench seat in the back. See if there is a 8 gauge wire hooked up to the battery there. If it heads up to the bow against the hull, take the cooler out of the seat under the glove box. Than try to trace the wire that way. Thats where I'd start anyways, since looking around hasnt worked yet. Good luck

Sounds like your boat's stereo was post factory. In that case, theres no telling where an amp could be. I could not imagine a standard head-unit being able to power a sub + 6 speakers. But, the sub could be something like a self-powered...JBL makes one.
