I am using a WS420 located at drive helm as well as a deck. The RCA's from the WS420 will be running over the port side console.

Is there an issue running a 14ga power wire from battery to driver helm, and a remote turn-on power wire to amps which would be side by side the RCA's that are going from WS420 to the 3 amps? Do I need to run these 2 power wires around bow instead?

Dave, here is what I would suggest.

Make a 3 wire harness for the WS-240 that long enough to run from the WS-240 to your distribution blocks/amp install area. One for B+, one for GND and the 3rd for the remote turn-on. The B+ and GND need to terminate to the same battery source as your amps and the turn-on wire will be connected to the switched output side of the relay thats going to carry the load for all the amps.

These wires will undoubtly run close to the RCA'S that run to the amps. WIll this cause any interference/hissing/etc?

          No, no interference at all.

I'm wondering if anyone has some advice on a good in-expensive deck head. What I will be running is an ipod touch, and a Sirius sat radio.

I want to operate my ipod from my ipod and not the deck head. Any recommendations?

Second, how much min power on the pre-outs should the deck have?

Bluetooth or 3.5mm headphone jack will really be the only options to retain playlist control through the MP3 device. Going through the data port typically surrenders control to the head-unit.

Most marine head-units offer a 2V output. Its sufficient, but 4 is better, which some offer.

                  Hey Mike,

This is what product description says for the M502. Does this mean you can operate from the ipod itself??

Superior iPod® and iPhone ConnectivityJust connect your iPod or iPhone to the source unit’s USB port to access and play music through the car audio system. Operate iPod using head unit controls, including “ABC Search”, or use control wheel of iPod “Simple Control”.

Is there any sound quality loss if a ipod touch is used using bluetooth?

I just caught part of this. Know a Sony marine head unit like the CDX-M60Ui will revert control back to the iPhone if you press and hold the MODE button.

I might have been better to read the whole thread, but you can connect up and still have control at the phone with some devices. When I am in a boat plant testing systems that have the Sony radio, I ALWAYS do the MODE button thing so I can use my phone to scroll through my test tracks.

clarion M309 will allow control through the ipod/iphone all day long.

Most of the time it comes down to RTFM.

Came across this ipod harness. My 1/8"satellite radio plug can plug into aux in back of the WS-420, and the ipod can simply plug into the RCA inputs? AND the ipod will charge also !! Does this make sense? Opinions?
