    Toying with some ideas

Im working on another project and had an idea thats been in the back o fmy mind for awhile now, so I thought it was time to act on it and see what the outcome looks like.

Pic A is the standard Kicker KM6200 coaxial in-boat.

Pic B is the Kicker KM62502 Component Set in-boat.

    Then theres Pic C

    Wut ya'll think?

    And another version:

D is with the tweeter flange recessed as opposed to the flange surface mounted. This version makes securing the tweeter to the grill a little tougher, unless I can actually mill a recess a lip for the tweeter flange to rest on.

Pic E is a side view of C

    F is a side view of D

I think it look clean as is, no need to mill it.

Any way that you could get the grilles from the KS series? Before I swapped in Wetsounds, I wanted to get these grille's because I think they look so much better. don't know if they fit though. Looks like your tweeter could go in there too and then paint the whole assembly the same color.

Thats a good idea to look into the KS grills. I think they are available. The 11KM***** gear now comes in a charcoal gray, similar to the KS car line. If the shade is close, no painting the grills!

This may sound dumb but it the tweeter in the 6200 non functioning? Is the tweeter in the 6250.2 better if the tweeter in the 6200 is functioning?

No issues with non-functioning tweeters, but yes, the 1.0" KM6250.2 remote tweeter is better then the integrated .75" KM6200 tweeter.

What im messing around with here is taking the remote component tweeter of the KM6250.2 and make it grill-mounted like the coaxial KM6200. If I can make it look good and fairly seamless, then its another option for those wanting hi-end output without cutting that separate tweeter hole.

              Does that make any sense

Yep, just didn't know about the tweeter.

After thinking through this a bit, it dawned on me that it will not work. The KM's are a thru-bolted grill, where as the KS grills snap onto a retainer that is placed behind the speaker before bolting down.

                  Still a good idea, thanks.
