    promariner install question

I'm in the process of installing a promariner prosport 20. I have located the unit where the taps pump is and ran the wires behind the engine up above it. Problem is they are about 1ft too short to reach the batteries and the location I have it in makes the most sense. Not much room where the batteries are. It states in the manual not to splice/cut/extend the wires and to only use the factory kit to extend the wires. I pulled up the 5ft extension and it looks like 5ft of wire that just uses a brass nut/bolt to connect the original and extended leads together and then another fuse on each lead at the end. It looks like nothing more than a fancy connection and a way to charge $25 for 5ft of cable.

What would be the downsides to installing something like a buss-bar where you can hook 2 wires together, running the prosport wires to that point, then run a properly gauged wire off that to the batteries? The run would be less than 2ft to each battery. seems like it would be the same as the kit they are selling?

    thoughts??

Use individual wires to each battery terminal with inline fuses to the positive side in 20 amp configuration. Those chargers have a temp sensor (resistance sensor) in the charging output line to monitor battery temp so using a busbar wouldn't be a good idea. Also, each battery will be charged at its own and necessary rate when hooked up individually.
