Help with what amp to purchase

Hello. I apologize in advance if I am leaving out important info from this post but I have zero experience with stereo systems and don't know all the details.

So we currently have a 1600w that is powering all our mid-range speakers. We also had a 500w amp that is fried and we need to find a replacement. We found out that the previous set up was wrong and that is why the power wasn't being distributed evenly to all the speakers/subs.

So we are looking for advice on a proper setup. We have no power to our subs right now (1 12" and 2 8") and we hooked up all the mid-range to the 1600w amp. Would one more amp be sufficient to power the 3 subs? And if so what size would you recommend?

IMO, it's never a good idea to mix different size drivers on a single amp. The 8's will likely reach their excursion limit before the 12" which means you'll be driving the 8's pretty hard while trying to get good output out of the 12".

At any rate, I have a couple JL amps (750/1 and 1200/1) in the classified section.

Depending on the 12" sub and two 8"s, a single amp, the right one though, could power all. A single 4 chnl could. But, we need specific models and coil configuration on the two and two 8's before any real recommendations can be made.

There are 2 located in the side storage area under the seats and the other is under the drivers seat.
