    Drilling holes in dash

I just bought a new Alpine stereo and remote. I would like to install the remote in the dash below the cruise control. Is it okay to drill through the dash, is the vinyl going to unravel?. The boat is a 2012 R20.

    Thanks

The biggest fear is having a tooth on the saw grab the vinyl and tear it. With the difference in diameter between the required hole of the MC20 and OD of the face, a minor tear would not cause an issue. If you are just cutting through vinyl and its plastic backing and not actual fiberglass, then I would consider using a soldering iron with a cutting tip. If there is fiberglass structure behind there, then you can cut through the vinyl and plastic with the soldering iron and then use the hole saw next.
