I have not heard the Icons so I cant not give you an honest answer on how they perform. Sorry.
They are wetsounds so how bad can they be!!
Looking into them they sound great for the sandbar and surfing...but I bet they are not much better than what you have now @ wakeboarding distance. IMPO again never heard them.

Do you have speakers in the bow or are all 4 in the rear of the boat.
2 are up front in the bow, and the other 2 are in the rear

Not to cost anyone a sale, but that 4 ohm DVC XS-12 will lock you into either a hybrid 5 chnl or a dedicated mono sub amp. Just and FYI.

Yes but he is going to have to get an amp for any sub so why not. Buy the sub pair it with an HT1=money! Right?

Why wont an HT2 work 575rms @4ohms mono? Sub calls for 500Rms @4ohms. What am I missing?

Dal 4 ohm sub can only be run at 2 ohms or 8 ohms.

Well I am confused as hell. Why dont they show a wiring for the DVC XS12. Is that an older speaker. I dont remember having that problem on the one I installed. It was just a month or so ago and I dont remember it being a DVC. So I nust have installed a XS12 S4. Yeah that must be it....not sure I would want the DVC X12 .

Ok but the HT1 would still work for this right? 600 x 1 @2ohms

Exactly. And the configuration of that 4 ohm DVC Sub will greatly effect his future amp choice. That sub can only be configure to 2 or 8 ohm. 8 ohm will not net you any power from an amp, so that leaves him 2 ohm. Odds are he will not find a 2 or 4 chnl amp that will allow him to bridge that 2 ohm load. So this leaves his choices at either a 5 chnl hybrid that 2 ohm stable or a dedicated mono sub amp.

I just wanted to OP to be aware of path this sub configuration would steer him, as it can effect both amp cost and number of total amps used in the system.

And yes, for the older 2 ohm DVC XS-12 or the new 4 ohm SVC XS-12, the HT-2 is perfect power.

Thanks for the clairification. It appears that this sub probably won't be the best option for what I am looking to accomplish after all, even though it seems to be a great deal.

So after thinking a bit last night, I like the idea of going with 4 of the XS650's for the in boat solution and wiring it to use my current ZX6000 amp to keep costs reasonable.

As far as towers and a sub go, I think that the ICON 8's might be worth investigating more. They seem to get great reviews, and do what I want to get out of a pair of tower speakers. Keeping my focus on in-boat and surfing listening, and also being able to do OK at a wakeboard distance. Mine current speakers are decent for wakeboarding now, so anything close to the same will suffice.

Having run JL 12w3v2's a few years ago, I think that sticking with the new 12w3v3 might be a good idea. I loved the SQ of these drivers, plus the ability to really boom when I want them to. I was thinking about going with a sealed enclosure under the drivers console. It appears that there is plenty of space for a box to fit in the storage console, so I am thinking about cutting a square out and front loading the enclosure.

Would it be possible to find 2 amps small enough, or 1 big amp to power the pair of ICON 8's and the 12w3? Any reccomendations on amps that are affordable that could work? I see this getting expensive quick so if I could keep the amps at a reasonable cost that might be best.

My short list of Hybrid amps that would deliver sufficient power to your sub choice and either work in 3 chnl mode with the Icon's bridged on the 4 full-range chnls or with the 2 pair of in-boats wired 1 p/chnl would be:
                                Wet Sounds Syn-6 or HT-6
                                ARC Audio KS-900.6 or XDi-805
                                Kicker IX1000.5, zxm/zx700.5 or DX600.5
                                Alpine MRX-V70, PDX-V9 or PDX-5M
                                JL Audio MHD900/5 or M700.5

There are quite a few 4 chnl amp that would deliver sufficient power to a sub and 2 pair of in-boats when run in 3 chnl mode, but not many that will deliver the power I think you are going to need for the Icons to meet your goals. Your current 2 chnl is good power for the Icons, and would allow you to add a 2nd pair with very little rewiring. Placing the towers on an amp with sub limits you to only a single pair of towers without making an amp change a significant rewire.
