2005 24V amp powers off and on

Hi all, I have a 2005 24V with a clarion marine system. The tower speakers and amp work fine. I just put in a new JBL amp for the lower speakers and when you are running or stopeed, the power on the amp will switch from Blue to red and protect. Then back for 10 seconds to blue and then back to red. Any ideas on what to check? it worked just fine for the first week and the wife needs her music. Thanks!

How did you connect the amp to power?

Does it occur at or past a particular volume level and plays fine below that level or does it happen any time the system is turned on? What model amp is it? How many speaker are hooked to it? Likely causes for a protect mode is low voltage or too low of an impedance on a chnl.
