    S9HD speakers and amps

So, I ended up going a totally different direction than the jl audio addition. I'm going to go with just a pair of these and a harpoon amp. They are ariving Friday and seeing if I should keep my kx350.2(subwoofer itself?) or just get rid of it.

I have 6 polk comp speakers inside and ill have to double check the sub, kicker crv10. Any thoughts on wiring this up, or will it be as simple as just switching out the 350.2 with the harpoon?

    Thanks!

Not an expert at all but I believe you will need a sub no matter what. Not sure if the one you have is good enough or another is needed but they guys you bought the 9's from will give you very good advice. Hopefully you have been powering the sub off it's own amp.

If this isn't what you were wondering, sorry for misunderstanding but hope this helps.

The sub is hooked up to a kx700.5, with the other cabin speakers, forgot to mention that.

If your amp wiring is all factory, then I believe its 8ga. This is not quite sufficient, I would suggest 4ga. You will also need a higher amperage circuit protection as I think the OEM is only a 60A fuse.

gotcha, now would you run 3 amps or just run the 700.5 and the harpoon?

I would run the bow speakers to they're own channel, and run the left and right sides in parallel to they're own channel. Than run the sub at 2 ohms to the class d channel. If you only have one sub id just swap out the 350.2 for the harpoon. If I'm following right you'll have the inboats and sub damn off the 700.5 and the new towers off harpoon and b done with it. Hope this helps.

After this is done, should I look into getting a on board charger? Or what would someone recommend for making sure I have enough battery left while sitting for 5 hours or so? 3rd battery? Both are 24M-XHD batteries, switch one to a deep cycle?

Your 6 in-boats and sub are perfect right where they are on the 700.5. I would remove the 350.2 and wire the tower speaker wires, remote turn-on wire and RCA right back to the new tower amp. The only thing thats needs to change is the cabling for the new tower amp. I would upgrade up it if it not 40ga.

Now, if you wanted to take this a step further, you could lay in a run of 1/0 for both amps and use a couple of distribution blocks placed near the amps so branch off with some 4ga to each. this insures both amps have adequate cable gauge and makes for a clean install.

Yes, but depends. Regardless of the size (amp draw) of any single stereo system has little to do with making sure a battery is replenished after a discharged. 4 speakers on a head unit will run a battery dead just the same as 3 amps pumping 3000W rms. The difference is in how fast the battery depletes. So, how you intend to use the system, will determine if you need to depend on shore charging and to what degree you need to depend on it. If you plan to spend a lot of time playing while anchored, then both a shore charger and a larger house bank will be a benefit. 2 batteries repeatedly run down to 50% will last longer then a single battery repeatedly run down to 25%. Two 12V batteries wired together in parallel double the Ah, so in the same 5 hour listening time, you have draw less out of the each them you would have drawn out of the one. Shallower cycles = longer battery life.

Might be a dump question, but how come you can run your stereo off of postion 1, 2 and both on the battery switch. From what I've been reading, You want to start with 1(cranking) go to both while boarding and then anchor with 2(deep cycle). If all your stereo is hooked up to your deep cycle battery, when you are on the 1 why would my stuff still be playing? Something not hooked up correctly?

If the stereo is wired directly to a battery, then the switch would indeed have no bearing on it. The switch is wired between the battery and the engine/alt.

In the next scenarion, if the stereo is wired to the common poast of the switch, it will have B+ any time the switch is in 1, 2 or BOTH, so it will still play.

So, your system may be wired correctly.
